Oh, Alex - I wish I'd thought of that when I paid my parking fine! :smilielol :smilielol I'd have loved to have seen their faces.

If its legal tender, why not. After all, you have been given it...

I love it Alex, well done. I wish I had the guts to do something like that and then you say you haven't got the nerve to ring round hairdressers asking for prices!!

Last year on holiday in the States, buying our last drinks in the bar before we came home...paid in very loose change...the Barman wouldn't except it...a guy at the bar confirmed that it was normal not to accept small change in payment...eventually took it...had nothing else!!!

Actually in the UK (am unsure about Cyprus), it is not legal tender in the way that Paper money is. It merely represents a division of a larger promisary note and can be used in that way. However there is also no legal reason why any retailer must take coinage, and ther is actually a legal maximum that can be applied to coinage in payment (normally 50p in bronze I believe,£1 in silver, I think these are the limits), so a retailer/official can tell you where to go.

I too have paid a parking fine £30 in coins and it took the dumpling ages counting it. I then paid a much larger account where she gave me all the coinage back as change, and I followed up by paying an environmental health bill (for wasp nest removal - not rats) with the same bunch of money and insisted it was conuted to give me a clear reciept.

Also the Tay bridge used to be 80p till recently (now a squid) and technically they didnt have to accept loads of change as it was over the limit, but of course they had to as the transaction of passing a £, and waiting for change would have caused mayhem (part of the reason for the later increase).

Anyway, good morning all, its a bit windy here, Ive stretched and scratched my bits, hope you all have a great day.

Well it didnt hurt quite as much paying it that way its the money out of the big glass bottle we have and we all put our loose change in it then usually count it up and spend it on something we all want

But let me tell you Eryn wasnt best pleased (6 going on 60) says when i was counting it and bagging it "Mummy is this the bottle money, the money we were going to the water park with! TUT well it looks like that will be next year now godddddddd" to which i laughed and said im sure we will be able to fill it up a little before then how i wish i was 6 and that was all i had to worry about god love her :D
