Went over to the North side today for petrol and cheap food. Many GC Priests were crossing
over also. Was there some Greek Orthodox event over there today?

What...you went from Zygi, Limassol to the North for cheap petrol? Surely the journey there and back would have consumed the best part of a tankful of petrol. Not sure I understand the logic.

And cheap food. Well worth it. We took our neighbours and shared the costs BTW.
Have you an answer to my question about the priests?

I have to ask the question of you, that if you were still living in Israel, would you cross the border into Palestine if they had cheaper food and petrol?
Personally, I believe it to be insulting to the Greek Cypriots who have welcomed us into their part of Cyprus, to then cross
the border into Northern Cyprus for a few bits of cheap goods. Quite insulting I think.

No, haven't a clue. Living in Paphos as I do I'm not sure why I should be expected to know why there was an outing of GC priests to the North. Frankly, the reason is not of interest to me either.

I would not venture into occupied Palestine (i.e. Gaza) for risk of being shot by the terrorists that control the territory. Otherwise Yes.
We use the Pyla/Pergamous crossing into occupied North Cyprus.
The queues of traffic doing the same as us were huge. Nearly all Greek Cypriots.
Do I take it we can take your criticism of us to also apply to them? If it does not bother the GCs why should it bother you or me?
Amos.

So why did you reply to it then? Just to Hi-Jack it?

I don't know the answer to your question Amos but I do agree that many Cypriots go over to the North, many of them for the Casinos so if that is not giving the Turkish your hard earned cash I don't know what is. The North is in my opinion a most beautiful part of the Island and it is a shame to not visit if only to see all the history of the entire Island. Would I go over to take advantage of the cheaper prices? Well the answer to that is no but there again I lived in the Paphos region and I have no problem with anyone who might do so - hardly a crime.

You asked me a question; I answered your question. Where does hijacking a thread come into it?

The question was about Priests crossing over - you did not answer it. Instead you brought up why I would want to cross over, costs etc, i.e. a red herring effectively hi-jacking the thread. Later this caused others to further widen the Hi-Jack to include Palestine!
In a later post you admitted you have no answer to my original question.
Amos.

Amos, I am aware "some" Greek Cypriots go to the North, but my question to you was comparable to what you consider Palestine is to your Israel, that you chose to leave, and came to live amongst Greek Cypriots. Are you not aware that as a now foreign resident of this country, that you are prepared to ignore that the "Illegally Occupied Northern Cyprus" is not recognised by any country in the world,INCLUDING ISRAEL, and hasn't been for 44 years now. So if you are happy to "save a few pennies" and yet live amongst the Greek Cypriot community then I find that very shallow. As a matter of interest, my wife applied for Cypriot citizenship in February 2017. In July 2018 she was called for an interview at Nicosia Immigration. One of the questions she was asked was "Have you been to the North of Cyprus?". Why do you think they asked that question? By you saving a few pennies, I would liken that to "The thirty pieces of gold" in the Bible. Hope your conscience can take it when you are asked the same question!

I hear what you say, heard it all before.
Regards GCs going north believe me a LOT more than "some"; 1000s of them.
Who can blame them? Taking advantage of the devalued lire.
That's life my friend.

Hmm, If the TRNC is not recognised by Israel....Why have they (Isralies) invested MILLIONS in building a Huge Marina and health centre in the TRNC??

Can we please keep to this thread's subject.
If you want to discuss Palestine, Israel, or the size of shoes Donald Trump wears, please start
your own thread.
Thank you,

They are probably 'hand-made' to fit, Effsie.
Not 'off-the-shelf' versions.
I wonder if he wears brown ones, when in town.
Ooops ! Off topic. :giggle

What's the problem Amos. Cameraman asked a perfectly logical question. A pity that Israel is pouring
so much money into a territory they, like the rest of the world don't recognise. It doesn't need a separate
thread for you to avoid the question!

The problem is that it has absolutely nothing to do with the thread's subject.
He makes valid arguments, but those topics are for a new thread.
No need to hi-jack this one - I wonder why he did that?

Amos,

He just made a comparison of a situation concerning crossing 'a border between two areas' .... and asked for your comment on that comparison.
It was not to hi-jack the thread.
But ..... you still have not answered his question ... have you ?

Well Mr Referee, would be interested to hear your rationale for that judgement.

Funnily enough, although I have previously argued that Amos was not Geoff, I am now beginning to think that he is. Geoff was as combative and argumentative as ever, which seems to be Amos's default position.

So why am I being singled out for "forum bullying"?
Any forum member reading this thread must surely agree that I am such a target.
I trust Admin will take any/necessary action/s.
The whole thing is rather nasty, and offensive.

Amos, I have been reading this thread and as it has progressed I have been thinking exactly what you have just said. Blaming an individual for Israel's behaviour is like blaming a UK Labour voter for the Iraqi war and all that has brought down on the world and a British Tory voter for Brexit. I have a feeling that you find this funny, I did when I got trolled by some idiot across the IT forums recently.

If you will re-read my post: "I have a feeling that you find this funny, I did when I got trolled by some idiot across the IT forums recently.", that is what I put originally and it has not been edited. I have accused someone on an IT forum of trolling me - this is not an IT forum and I confirm I have never been trolled on here

Amos, I was not affected by trolling, it was ridiculous and I found it funny and ended up winding the idiot up, it was a specialist IT forum about a specialist packetshaper and the twit in question obviously didn't even know what they were for. I am a fit 6 foot ex- rugby player, ex- copper, ex- publican, IT technician etc; I am not going to be affected by someone typing comments on the internet. I doubt you are affected either and you possibly enjoy it, for all I know. TBH for all I know you are a Swedish blonde pornstar that has never been to Cyprus. I just find some of the answers you get annoying in the same way some people got fed up with people posting UK issues in the main discussion forum, which to me was a non issue.

Nice one Mikesjn! Swedish Blonde eh? Maybe would make a useful mistress for the infamous
"Geoff"??!!
I do enjoy most stuff on here, but I draw the line at being called someone else, and also
held personally responsible for the actions of the State of Israel.
It is my country, true, but I did not vote for the current Govt. there.

Swedish blonde may be pushing it. But you know what I mean. I agree, I have even voted for UK Governments that have then done things I do not agree with, I sure as hell would not apologise for them.

Let's get it straight Amos. Your original posting had the heading re GC Priests, but the content of that posting, in your very first words also contained information from YOU, that you went over into the illegally occupied territory in The North, to purchase goods etc at lower prices there. So don't complain when others take you up on that point as well, or are we supposed to ignore that point of your posting because it is your whim we should do so. Regarding your complaint that I, basically, asked you to compare that as an Israeli, that you state you are, to crossing the border into Palestine. If you don't want comparisons, criticism, or anything else about your toal postings, other than the actual "title" of your postings, then don't fall back on the "trolling" complaint, which is hardly any difference to the race card used by people throughout the world today.

Thank you for your support.
I do not find it funny, and I am sorry you have also been a victim of on-line trolling.
I started this thread about why so many GC Priests were crossing over to the north.
Not one person gave me an answer, just hassle.
Amos.

I am not complaining about trolling., and do not use the race card (or anti-semetic card).
When asked about going north, as mentioned in my OP, I responded explaining we shared costs with our neighbours.
Then someone brought in the Palestinian issue - I responded it was hi-jacking the thread
and I suggested they started their own thread if they wanted to discuss such issue/s.
THAT was my problem. Not the question/s, but where they were being asked (wrong thread).
Amos.
