British Airways is suspending its Paphos to Gatwick winter service from October 31st until March 27th

Is this the start of the Paphos Airport Winter closure threat. :manic

Everyone is, also Thomas Cook and apparently even Sleazy (info from reps who work at the airport).

Not sure that's 100% accurate. We are booked on Easyjet to London in November and returning January. They show availability all through the Winter season, although they do cut down from 2 flights a day to one. BA show no schedule in and out of Paphos after October, but Cyprus Airways still do.

I am booked on EJ in early Jan ( gotta catch those London sales!) and have heard nothing to the contrary from them.

I hope you're right. When I heard it I could hardly believe that they would not serve Pafós at all anymore. If, I think they might reduce to 2 or 3 flights/week but I just asked both reps and they have heard nothing new about Easyjet's plans having changed and for them Pafós airport still will be ghost town in Winter.

I'm on the same flight as adfam in November, so better be on or there'll be hell to pay . . . . . . we're all going on our "special holiday" (not allowed to say cruise on the Queen Mary 2 :smilielol ), and coming back early December . . . .

Complete and utter hogwash ..
I have a friend who is a duty manager for hermes at paphos airport
who started to laugh when I asked them the question ,,
do you really think that hermes would let that much money slip through there fingers ..
There was once discussions about closing the airport at night during the winter , but even that was
decided against .. as you must have an airport manned 24,7 what would happen if there needed to be an emergency landing ??
no control tower , no fire services , no one to recieve a plane ,
my friend just laughed and said dont be so stupid ..

Neil, was he able to shed more info about whether certain carriers will continue their regular schedule or might change it, especially the low cost ones?
I'm not looking at leaving but have several friends from all over the world coming over and if, they would have to look at flying via other countries, not the UK.

Well, as Jean's posted a few days ago, Easyjet are starting a new route Edinburgh to Paphos on 3rd Nov.

So if anything it sound likely the airport may have more flights that usual over the winter.
