Sorry folks but I am still in lbs and ozs.

WINTER WARMER

Ingredients:-

1lb stewing beef
2 cloves of garlic
1 red chilli pepper (deseeded if preferred – I deseeded it because I didn’t want it to blow my head off)
2cm fresh ginger (chopped)
¼ pint of red lentils (optional)
1/8 pint of pearl barley (optional
2 large carrots
2 onions
4 large potatoes (quartered)
1lb swede (diced)
¼ - 1/2 litre of red dry wine
Worcester Sauce
¼ teaspoon Dried Mixed Herbs
A liberal sprinkling of Sage and Onion Stuffing Mix

Before starting leave red lentils and pearl barley in a pint of water to soak for at least an hour. When they have swelled rinse well and put to the side.

Fry onions, garlic, chilli pepper and ginger until full flavoured (you can smell the aroma from them). Add cubed beef and brown adding salt and pepper, sprinkle with Worcester sauce. Add all other ingredients, stir well and simmer for approximately ½ - 2 hours, adding water if required and giving the occasional stir.

This recipe freezes well and I made three dinners from it, although I did find that I had to add more water after freezing.

Serve with hot buttered fresh bread.

I would love to hear if anyone tries it what they think.

Let me know what you think, as obviously this was done to my own taste but both Steve and I loved it.
