While I did re-routing some cables on a roof today, I found my PV panels are dusty again ! Just on 8 days...
It's time to hosing.

I'm wondering if wind direction last days is from East, why we have dust in air ? It's coming not from Syria nor Egypt ...

Hey guys!

How's your production doing in these cloudy days? Mine has dropped a little:

Hi

Thinking of installing a 5KW system, in parallel, with investor on each panel, so minimal effect if any shade....

My bills are over €2500 year on average, plus gas CH for winter - which can be a full tank for a couple of weeks with guests....

I'm expecting a payback in 6 years or less....

Would love any advice....

Only been speaking to GreenAir so far.

Hi GreyPaint,

This is who we got our first quote from, but beware!
Given their estimated costs for a PV System, we were invigorated to get some other competitive tenders.
Our suspicions were confirmed as every one of those companies were cheaper!

We eventually chose a company that provided much better quality panels from Germany & an Inverter from Italy.
The system guarantees were also much longer than those provided by Green Air & the online monitoring system was (after some negotiating) included gratis as part of the deal.

Like buying all things in Cyprus or in the UK, it pays to do your homework to avoid being ripped-off & to haggle to get the price down.

Just received my electric bill and I’m hoping they’ve read the meter wrong... I have a 3kw system and my bill is for €230.
My meter switches between two readings, can anyone tell me if the amount of electricity consumed begins with a 0 or a 5 please?
The readings are: 5 000474.2 and 0 001737.8
Thanks in advance
Pete

Hi Expresspete,

As I understand it;
The '0' reading is what you have consumed & '5' is the electricity generated by your solar pv system.

Thank you Topgun, that means I’ve produced just 474 over a two monthly period and laid out €5300 for the privilege - someone shoot me now

Hi Expresspete,

Surely you realise that the productivity of your new system is relative to the intensity & traverse angle of the suns rays, so it is far less productive during the winter months?

During the following year you should accumulate 'credit' KW hours that will compensate for the downturn during the winter months, so don't panic!

Unfortunately any surplus (i.e. '5' credit above '0' usage) at the end of the electricity companies financial year, is not rolled-over into the next year anyway. A point your system installer should have made clear to you from the outset.

Daylight robbery I know, but this is Cyprus!

In two weeks the year will ends and my solar PV Inverter does show a result - produced more then 5 MWh in 2017.
Seems it well fit in my year's consuming by employ A/C in hot days and electrical heaters winter time.

Little bit lately for my reply, but anyway - you could compare with my setup (what's your PV capbility ? 3-4-5 kW ?).

About cleaning the solar PV panels: after last month of dirty air, initially I thought it would be enough using a sponge and water ... but end up scrapping with steel blade. That's works.
