If provided at a chef-attended carvery, where diners can select the content for their own plate, I would think that Yorkshire Puddings would be acceptable as one of the options.

I'm a Yorkshire las and adore my Yorkshire puds, but never eaten them with Christmas lunch. But hey, does it matter if folks want them then so be it. I've seen lots of stuff eaten at Christmas lunch that I wouldn't feed my cats, so each to his/her own!

We have them with every roast meal, and definitely always at Christmas and Easter.

It’s an old poll from last year that a ‘heavy weight’ newspaper ran and the result was 66% yes 34% no

HOWEVER

Another ‘lighter’ paper stated:-
“Yorkshire puddings should never be served WITH anything except for gravy (and perhaps occasionally a sausage if you are making toad in the hole). Putting them on the plate with the roast is a bizarre southern aberration. They should be eaten before dinner, like a starter, with the gravy from the roast that follows.”

On a slightly different tack regarding Christmas Dinners is to establish what is often 'wrong' with them

Soggy uncrispy roast potatoes
Prefromed turkey
Soggy veg
Bland floured gravy from a tin.
Atmosphere of just another meal!

If a host can get these right then he's on to a winner.

Absolutely yes.

From my part of Yorkshire we ate our Yorkshire puddings with the dinner.

Many years ago in a different part of Yorkshire out for Sun lunch at a friends I was presented with my Yorkshire pudding first before the dinner!!

"Many years ago in a different part of Yorkshire out for Sun lunch at a friends I was presented with my Yorkshire pudding first before the dinner!!"

Many moons ago my new fiancé, my mother and I went over to Sheffield from Hull for the day to introduce him to my sister and her family. My sister, as usual, served the Yorkshire first with the gravy, my fiancé never having seen this before assumed that was lunch and made smacking lips and indications of feeling full, thinking that that was lunch! My brother in law, Sheffield born and bred said "what's up with thee lad, tha's got tha dinner to eat yet".

They never let him forget that!

Slightly off topic, I can't stand Cranberry Jam (or jelly as the Americans call it) with my Christmas Dinner.
I have it on toast for breakfast!!

When she was pregnant, my mum got hooked on kippers and marmalade (as you do). It never left her and nearly sixty years later I still love the combination. I do get funny looks at the breakfast buffets though!

My Sunday lunch consists of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. If I have roast chicken, there's no Yorkshire pud on my dinner, neither does it go on a roast lamb dinner either....

I don't have roast beef for Christmas dinner, I have turkey... I'll leave you to work out the rest of the answer ;)
