Following the generally rave reviews on Trip Advisor & various forums, last night we headed for The Curry House indian restaurant in the Bar Street area in Paphos, what an eye opener!

This was somewhat of a shock to us as we have not visited this area before.
The majority of buildings were in a very sad state of repair & the area was what we can only describe at best as 'seedy'.

Since this is classified as a 'Tourist area', we were less than impressed that Paphos Municipallity have not seen fit to refurbish these dilapidated properties alongside the other works, in this 'Year of Culture'.

Happily the restaurant lived up to the reviews & is excellant!
However, we did head for home before the 'night owls' descended.

Despite a makeover about 10 years ago Bar Street has been in decline since the early 90's. Certain things look better in the dark and Bar Street is most definitely one of them

It is very sad the decline of Bar Street, having said that the restaurant never disappoints. There are small signs at either end of the street that investment is starting to happen - what is needed is a reduction in rates coupled with a more active policing to make safe and eradicate drugs(not likely I know but should try). 15-20 years ago in my youth I used to have a whale of a time there. A bit too old for clubbing know - I am in bed b4 they open!!!!

Some of the eyesores that were on Bar St have indeed been demolished ie Splash bar and Linnkers (sp?) as they were beyond saving due to fire damage however I'm sure there isn't anyone who doesn't think the whole area should be totally refurbished!

The end where The Curry House, Junction Cafe etc are is marginally better!!
