How to add your location (and any other information if you wish) to your profile

Click on the user control panel in top right of the page. This will open a new page

On this new page, on the left, you will see profile

Click on profile and this will again open a new page

On this new page, half way down the right section, add your location

Press submit

Simples :clapping

Location: Take a wild guess :)
Because many queries have answers that depend on the location of the poster.
For example, "does anyone have a recommendation for a cleaner" - if you live in Argaka, it's most unlikely that a cleaner based in Konia would be particularly interested.
Also all those "it's snowing/raining/hot hail here" posts have more relevance with the location added.
HTH :greetings

I hope Kay has sufficiently explained in her reply why having your location displayed will “Help us help you”

For the avoidance of doubt, you don’t have to complete the location section.
Personally, I don’t care where you live. I don’t care if you own or rent your property. I don’t care if you have a Villa, a Townhouse, a Bungalow, an Apartment or indeed a trailer. The location section is solely a provision that is offered to allow members to help you when you request assistance in ‘your area’ but don't tell us where your area is, hence the title of the thread, “Help us to help you…add your location”

Can I ask you WHY you are reluctant to add your location?

I can understand people being reluctant to add their location/personal info - after all, this is a public forum and anything you post on here can be found out there on the internet. It's not just kept visible to forum users/posters.

I can also understand the reason for asking for the info too.

So, if you choose not to update your location info - then as a piece of advice....

When you just post "can anyone help?" or "where can I get?" which are the most common and stupid subject titles, then be prepared for a barrage of questions.

Try to make the subject line more specific - Can anyone help "in Chloraka" or Where can I get (whatever) "in Konia" would make things much simpler and you will get replies from people who know rather than the banal responses which generally follow. Also, more people are likely to read the post with a specific subject line - a totally vague one is often passed over because people can't be arsed to click and read it.

have to agree on that ,,, I posted a thread about the mayor getting jailed , but there was already a thread.. though the headline was "what a joke" (which was later changed)
I never knew it was about the paphos mayor , so it does help if the title is more clear ..

Also when you post a link , its better if you say a little bit about whats behind the link, I dont want to
clicking on links that lead to blood and gore , or filth ...
just a few pointers :greetings

I agree too....

Generally, when putting up a link I will copy and paste some of the content so people know what they're clicking on...

However, if I want to post something that may add a little intrigue and I want those nosy people to click - then I will put up an ambiguous title. I can assure you though, that it will not start with "Can anyone help?" or "Where can I get?" :pow

Done it! Re headers to posts. I, for one, appreciate a warning about distressing animal pictures and don't open. Upsets me too much.

:agree also with this, I can't be arsed and never do open a link without any information as to what it is about.

I suspect you are correct WD.
I just can’t for the life of me understand the reluctance to add a location.
Anyway, if a member can’t be bothered to enter a location, why should I bother having to ask every time? From now on, I probably won’t bother replying or offering help…

For those of you that do not have your location displayed.
You do not have to put your exact location just the area in Paphos.
IE Tala, Tsada, konia, ect.
Please remember that Paphos covers a 400 sq km area.
So an indication will help members help you!
I am a computer technician that visit's customers homes and have to ask where in Paphos are you.
I asked one customer where she was and she said "I front of the computer"
