Hi, We have a Shark steam mop and love it, Much better than a mop and bucket.
Brought it over in our luggage so don't know where you would get one in Cyprus.

Steam cleaners do generally work, especially if you have a brand like Karcher or Polti.

The thing with them is that they aren't exactly plug in and go as they have to be filled, heat up etc. We use ours mainly for cleaning grout and degreasing but still go with a mop and bucket most of the time.

Hi I have had 2 since coming to Cyprus
one I brought with me and another bought from outlet store.
You need to use distilled/ de-ionised water in them NOT tap water hence the reason I am
on my second one as the first was filled with tap water = limescale and completely seized up.
Great invention as much cleaner than using mop and NO chemicals .
Although much cheaper to buy from uk :)

We( the Royal we, i don't do cleaning!) bought a Vax and it is brilliant! Cleans floors excellently, and dries very fast.

I have a Lakeland steam mop which I've had for almost 6 years. Wouldn't be without it. I think they may be all of a 'muchness' . The principal is the same - brilliant cleaning an super fast drying. Would never go back to the old slushy mop, super fast in comparison.

Does anyone know if these steam mops work on laminate floors, or even if they are safe to use on them?

I have a VAX and brought it over in my suitcase about 6 months ago. £39.99 from MACRO. It works well & heats up quickly, it is also great at cleaning the sticky bits left from double sided tape after carpets have been down in winter. But you must sweep the floor before steaming it, otherwise the microfabric mop heads get dirty in an instant and just gather dust. I also bought 3 microfabric mop heads from Ebay. £4.79 inc P&P to UK.

I have a new steam mop and have read that using ionised water prolongs its life. Not sure how expensive ionised water is, here in Cyprus, or indeed if you can buy it?
Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Any supermarket Paps, Carrefour etc sell it in gallon containers. I use distilled water in my car to increase my mileage and its easy to get hold of...

Or, if you have a dehumidifier or a condensing tumble drier you can use the waste water from them.

Just taken ours back to shop and got our money back. We had it a couple of months, used it maybe half a dozen times and it just stopped working!

To clarify It was a Pifco x5 purchased from the Outlet Store on the Polis rd.
We found it not as easy to use as advertised, inefficient and cumbersome.
It developed a fault after 4 weeks of intermittent use so It was returned.
We at the time registered our concerns with Colin the manager and after 10 days we were advised it had been repaired.
On collection it was apparent that very little care had been taken of the appliance while in the shop so we requested a refund.
A credit note was offered but we rejected that and after discussion a refund was agreed.
As advertised " We guarantee our guarantees" yes they do, no problems at all with any dealings with these people.
They do what it says on the box. :clap :clap :clap

We brought a Polti from the UK and it is far superior to anything sold here.

I bought a steam mop from the Outlet store, and to be honest I dont think they
are as good as they are advertised to be.

After I have cleaned the floors, you can still see marks on the floor once dry.

They are very flimsy, not very sturdy and they are very expensive for what they are :-(

I'm not sure that it's fair to generalise like that. Manufacturers and models vary from one to the next. My wife bought a steam mop about a year ago and loves it to bits. Makes light and (relatively) easy work of what were, previously, very difficult floors to clean. But before buying, we went through all the available models on Amazon to determine which makes and models had the most favourable feedback. Then we bought the most favoured model and weren't disappointed. No marks on our floor when dry.
