Kenny Ball

"Jazz trumpeter Kenny Ball has died at the age of 82 after suffering from pneumonia, his manager has confirmed"

As a traditional jaz fan I love this song

Many years ago I took my mother to see Kenny Ball at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage and managed to get seats right in the middle of the front row (there is no centre aisle there).

After a quite pleasant first half, apart from getting covered in spit every time the brass players cleared out their instruments, we retired for the interval.

When they came out for the second half my mother nudged me and said "can you see that?" "What" said I. "Well" she said, "in the first half he was dressing to the left and now he is dressing to the right". I was never able to see Kenny Ball or my mother in quite the same light again!

Hi Norv

It was a good few years ago now and jazz isn't really my thing, it was a special night out for my mum. I previously took her to see Stefan Grapelli - couldn't believe how someone so old could have such supple fingers.

It wasn't a bad night at all. My main memory was them singing this one!

Run out of new topic ideas for a moment but liked the Stefan Grapelli contribution so why not start a new one? Great musicians for example or any music related topic?

The idea is endless & members must be getting a bit peeded off seeing poppyred on most topics :agree
