The controversy about this vaccine is not confined to UK and USA.
In Israel it is also an issue.
Many parents opt, instead, for 3 individual vaccine jabs.
Why don't UK/USA etc opt for this?
Amos.

What controversy?

MMR has been around for many years and there is no definitive research proving any negative issues.

In the UK the doctors that originally raised concerns were shown to be incorrect.

Incorrect, or not, many people just do not believe/trust the medics.
Hence the alarming fall in the numbers of children not being vaccinated.
Hence my OP! The argument being that the 3 in 1 vcaccine is just too much for some young children's immune systems to cope with, whereas single vaccines are fine.
Amos.

There is no proof, the medics say the triple vaccine is safe, Andrew Wakefield said it
is not safe and got struck off for saying it.
Point is many with kids are not sure, fueled by stuff on the social media etc.
These people are not having their kids vaccinated.
Single vaccines therefore are the answer to THAT problem.
In fact they are all safe, just not everyone believes it!
Amos.

Yes, but that is because he was proven to be wrong.

And also, presumably, fuelled by comments such as yours!

The reason that I am challenging your comments is that they cause concern, but, to my knowledge, there is no proven evidence to support what you are saying, but this is how panic starts. We had it recently with someone on this forum suggesting that Bank of Cyprus was about to go under. We also have people posting elsewhere that Thomas Cook as going bust, but they are still here.

The internet can be a fantastic resource, but a few poorly chosen thoughts or opinions can cause so much damage.

The BBC has been reporting the recent increases in measals, now mumps too, in UK and USA and indeed some EU Countries.
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-48386990
The BBC reports say this is mainly due to kids not been vaccinated - because their parents
have been scaremongered by reports of possible harmful side effects.
I have seen similar in Israel, as I said before.
I also said that in Israel. just to be sure. many such parents have opted for single vaccines.
My OP was to draw attention to that option and to suggest it might be a useful optionin UK, USA, etc.
My own grandchildren have had the single vaccines, rather than the triple (MMR) one.
To suggest that my OP is an example of using the internet to put off people having their kids vaccinated is fatuous!
Amos.

As always, you are clearly in the right!

It is a waste of time trying to put forward any opinions that differ from yours.

It is not a question of being right or wrong.
I was highlighting a serious problem (as per the media reports) and suggesting that use of single
vaccines might be the best way to get around people's distrust of the triple MMR.
That was my suggestion, NOT an opinion (I am not qualified to make a medical opinion);
maybe you are (??)
Amos.
