My wife and I (both retirees) hope to re-locate to Paphos in the New Year, renting for at least the first 12 months. I suffer from glaucoma and in spite of several operations still have to rely on drops to keep the pressure down. I have to use Cosopt Preservative Free drops and also have to visit a consultant every 6-12 months to check on pressures, field of vision etc. Does any fellow glaucoma sufferer know if those drops are available and what the eye specialist service is like in Paphos?

I too have glaucoma, and had a trabeculectomy on each eye over 15 years ago - fortunately the surgery was successful for me, although I do continue to be checked annually. I go to see Dr Tassos Georgiou at the Blue Cross hospital - he performed lens replacement surgery on my eyes two years ago, so I continue to see him on follow up appointments.

I don't know about the medication you use, but will try to find out for you whether it is available or not and will get back to you :greetings

Thanks Jean for the info. Glad your op was successful. My eyes defy the laws of science!! Do you pay for your pressure checks or are they done under the state system for free?

Mine are included in my visits to Dr Tassos, which again are all included in the cost of my lens replacement. I know there is a doctor at the General Hospital, not sure of his name though, and he does do pressure tests. I see you are both retirees, so will qualify for treatment there - don't forget your S1 forms from the UK to get your medical card here. :morning

Careprost eye drops 0.03% contain bimatoprost, which is a prostaglandin-like substance that has unique and particular activities in different tissues of the body, including strong visual hypotensive (weight decreasing) activity. you can buy it online at a reasonable cost.
