Hi Folks

This is my first post on this site and I am hoping that someone may be able to help me.
Some friends of ours are visiting Paphos in February in order to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary and we have booked to join them as a surprise. We have managed to book into the same hotel - Dyonisos Hotel - and I am unable to find any information to help me as I am a wheelchair user. For example I cannot find out if there are ramps. I am not entirely dependent on the wheelchair but if anyone can help with any info I would be very grateful.

Thank you
Barb

Hello Barb

Welcome to PP. :greetings

I've not been to that hotel myself, but if no one else comes on and report I'll happily go and have a look for you. My sister is in a wheelchair and regularly visits me here in Paphos, so always on the look for places/restaurants to visit that are wheelchair friendly. So if need any info on places please feel free to ask and I'll try and find out for you.

We've PM a bit and I'm planning a trip tomorrow as I have to go down the harbour anyways.

But if anyone does have any feedback I'm sure it would help.

Neil - the reply doesn't surprise me there are loads of places in Paphos that aren't wheelchair user friendly at all.

Hi Neil

Thank you so much for that. As I said I am not completley reliant on the chair - it is mostly for walking.
Sadly I can't walk to the end of the street (only a short street).

There looks to be a few steps up to the hotel itself - looking on the web site - those few I think I will manage but after that my husband will have to give me a piggy back - no mean feat as i am no lightweight.

We are meeting friends there so I am sure there will be willing helpers.

At least now I know what to expect.

Thanx to everyone for information

Thank you for your kind offer. As you can see Neil has been in contact for me.

I had a bit of a look round the hotel and took some photos

The outside entrance - 6 steps.

Inside - another 6 steps. up to the lift and the downstairs rooms

I had a bit of look around to see if you can get in any other way.
Parking area.

There didn't seem to be anyway from the front to get in.
You can see the side alley to the left of the photo. If you follow this round to the back of the hotel. Then there are these single set of five steps.

Do this gets you to the same level as the lift. If you go past the pool and in the back entrance.

The entrance did look a bit on the narrow side.

On the plus side the location of the hotel is very good. You can get to lots of restaurant/bars without any issue what so ever. Unfortunately, there is an awful lot of places that have the toilets up stairs. The nearest sandy beach is a long of a walk.

Ali

I cant thank you enough for that information. That is so helpful.
Think I will have to go round by the pool to be on the same level as lift. I requested a low floor and have been allocated a room on 1st floor so not too much trouble there.
You are an absolute gem and so kind.

Regards

Barbara

As it's not particularly busy time of the year hopefully you'll be able to get a downstairs room. Fingers Crossed they aren't redecorating them all or something like that.

Hopefully, the hotel won't mind opening that back door late at night etc.

If you find any disabled toilets on your travels please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Ali

Returned yeaterday after a very enjoyable week in paphos.
The pictures you sent were great and exactly as I ecpected on arrival. yeas there are a few stairs but as there were 2 strong men to help it wasn't a problem for me.
Attached to the hotel is a bar called the Royale Place. There seems to be an add on building where the toilets are and they are all on the same level. No disabled ones but plenty of room if you need to take wheelchair. I am not totally reliant on wheelchair so a short walk was OK for me.
I have to say most of the toilets are upstairs which could be a problem but with help I manages.
Some of the pavements have really high steps and that was a problem as I was in and out of the chair like the proverbial.
We were lucky with the weather all week thank goodness. Had a great time as we (4 of us) won the 2 quiz nights we attended.
Thanx once again for your help. :celebrate :celebrate

Lovely to see the help you were given on this, typical I have to say of the people linving in Cyprus, always so helpful, I love going there.
Have a friend who needs a wheelchair for most of the time so good to hear a report from someone using one there, never really know if I should recommend the place as I do know what the roads/pavements are like and wonder if he would cope ok. Lacyuk
