Want to do something completely different? Then come up with a design for a raft, build it and then on Saturday 12 September enter the PAWS Raft Race which will be taking place down at Bona Mare Beach, just off the road to Paphos airport. Take into account at the planning stage that you will have to transport the raft and carry it down to the beach! No engine parts are allowed. Teams must comprise of between 2 and 4 persons and at least two must be aged 18 or over. Race commences 10.30 a.m. PAWS are very grateful to the Paphos International Sailing Club for providing a safety boat and crew for the event. Full rules and sponsorship forms are available from the PAWS Shelter, PAWS Charity Shop and our stall at the Duckpond Market on a Sunday or call Matt on 99683775. The registration fee is €20 per raft and each team must pledge to raise a minimum of €50. Competitors must register by 5 September. ALL money raised will go directly to PAWS. A BBQ will be available at 1.30 p.m. for spectators and competitors at a cost of €7 per head. Contact Maria on 97645543 to purchase/book BBQ tickets. This will be the second year that the event will be held and judging by last year there will be thrills and spills but it will be a fun and entertaining day. |
