I'm not a financial expert. Something many of us are searching for. Its the loss of the interest on savings that effects many. When we first came out here, 2001 you could get 7% with Bank of Cyprus, 0.01 now. With no UK address, (don't use a relatives address they will find you out eventually,) its virtually impossible to get a savings account in the UK but that's 0.01 interest there as well. There are "Investment or Wealth Managers" offering 9% but when you dig deeper you find they are not completely British and not subject the UK's Financial Control
Authority so very risky. Premium Bonds, UK Government Bonds are a long term investment.

Others I can think of are:

Long term, investing your savings in property. If you invest in the UK you are liable for UK tax. Where is the Cyprus property market going?

Start a niche business.

If own a large property here, downsize and reap the profit from the equity. The kids might scream though.

That's all I can think of. Any other ideas anyone?

Shooting of messengers is not healthy.

Premium Bonds are usually a good bet and do not need to be a long term investment.

You can buy up to £50,000 of bonds and they currently have an average return of 1.5%, plus you could win a prize of up to £1,000,000.

You can also cash them in at any time and get your full investment back.

Not a huge return, but a safe investment.

If something is too good to be true, then it usually is. Caveat emptor.
