Post subject:  Immigration taking the original marriage certificate?

Hello guys,

Just a quick question.. Is the Immigration Office supposed to take our original Marriage Certificate upon applying for Residency?

We went to Immigration this morning and now my husband got his yellow slip. Our main concern is that they now have the original document when we have also provided photocopy of it. Will they return it to us? We asked the guy in the Immigration and he said they will send it to Nicosia for verification.. not sure if they're going to give the MC back to us, though!

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Juvee

When we applied for my wife's residency they wanted to see the original but only retained a copy. Our certificate was from Paphos municipality, so it may depend on where you got married. If you got married outside the EU, then have you got all the stamps etc from the Cyprus embassy etc on the back. If not then that may be the reason.
