Haris can you comment on this please
Our lift maintenance company as sent the following to us three times, now.
Law 95/16CE of Elevators.
That when there is no active telephone in our lift, the lift should not be in public use due to safety reasons.
Our lift has been operating 11 years quite satisfactory without a telephone being installed.
The company want us to let them install the phone communication from the lift at a very substantial fee.
Do we have to have this phone which has never been needed before or is it just another way to boost the company’s profits.

Yes this is correct. This is a rule from the E.U. and the Ministry of Labour sent directions to all elevator companies for this new rule requiring a telephone in all elevators.

There is two solutions, the first is to put a telephone line through CYTA and this line will ring only to the police / fire station / elevator maintenance company.

The second option is the elevator company will install a GSM, this is not a line through CYTA but will also only ring to the police / fire station / elevator maintenance company.

You can discuss the charges for installation and monthly running costs with the elevator company.
