Well they have been and I am still none the wiser. I really can't read this couple at all. This is their 4th visit here but there concern right from the frist visit was whether they could put a huge conservatory on the back of the house. Well, they heard back from planning who have said categorically NO. Not on a barn as it would destroy the look of it.

However, they still came, complete with entourage of son, daughter-in-law and 2 dogs. They wanted to see our original plans, including plan of the garage we never built. They asked about the bst place to put a vegetable patch, if we were still in touch with the people who put in the kitchen and loads of other things. I just don't know as the reason they wanted the conservatory was because they have a lot of furniture and they thought our sitting room was not big enough.

BUT, and maybe a big BUT, they have now sold their house in Berkshire and the condition of sale is that they complete on the 15th April, which puts them under some pressure to find another house, although they could move in with their son for a while who lives not far from us. So I am back to the waiting game of hearing from the estate agent. It would of course put pressure on us if they make a good offer as we would have to be out by 15th April!!! I am sure I could manage it though if I had to. I am in Cyprus from 15th March to 29th March, so it would be a rush.

I am trying not to build my hopes up here, but if it all pans out you will see me doing the dance that Laura Linney did in Love Actually when she bagged the brazilian guy back to her flat!!!!

Keep all you fingers and everything else crossed for me guys, pleeeease

I agree with the others Tina, they do seem keen otherwise they wouldn't keep coming back.

At least they have sold their place, so you wont be in a chain, which is a plus.

Nope. No sleep last night and up by 6 again today

I don't expect to hear anything today as they are staying in Wales for a couple of days, but I am going to ring the estate agent. Maybe they have a mobile phone????? Don't look the type tough.

I promise you will know as soon as I know

:rant Well they have made an offer - below the level that the estate agent had already told them would not be accepted!!!! They are expecting us to drop by £45,000!!! Not a chance. Estate agent is going back to them to tell them what figure we are looking for and if not then no go.

However, got another viewing this afternoon, but from someone who has not sold their house yet. So, who knows. Back to the drawing board I think.

They must think you're desperate to sell offering you that much less, either that or chancing their luck, as they may not be able to afford your full asking price, we had a few like that when we sold

Oh dear, not good news then but you never know what will happen, tonights viewers might not need to sell to buy, or they could have a bridging loan to cover the buy untiul they sell

Its all a possibility :D :D Keep smiling Tina, we wish you luck

The only smile I could muster at the moment would be through gritted teeth  If they are chancing their arm then I doubt their next offer would be enough either, as they are likly to come in half way I would guess, which would still be £10,000 short.

I just don't understand why, when they were told 3 weeks ago that an offer of that amount would not be accepted, WHY did they still make it!!!!

I am trying to calm down now (getting on with some work). Angry is what I am feeling, not disappointment although that too. They seem like quite intelligent people but maybe I am wrong and they actually speak another language

Tina that's awful after 4 visits as well

Is there a chance they are just trying it on and might come back with a realistic offer ?

I really feel for you - our house has been up for over a year and timewasters are the worst

Thanks Guys, you are really cheering me up. I have had a laugh at your replies (especially Frank!!!).

We are still talking. They have upped their offer but not high enough. We have instructed our agents that we might be prepared to come down a little further if they are prepared to give us a little more time than completing by 14th April. That would be pushing it too far. It is not just the physical move, it is more my work thing. I would find it hard to give all my clients less than 3 months notice (I do have some morals) as it would leave many of them in the lurch. If they could stretch it to say mid-May we could possibly do it.

Our other viewing for this afternoon became a "no show". They saw that we had a neighbour (about 200 yards away) and decided not to come in. Left us hanging on for 2 hours before they saw fit to tell anyone!!! Angry again about that.

Am now expecting another sleeplesss night until we hear more from Mr & Mrs Trying-it-on!!!!

Thanks again for all your support, particularly Julie who, after a year, must be climbing the walls!!!!!!

Hi Tina

In my opinion they are definitely trying it on. Dont forget that they are also under pressure to get out of their own house now it has been sold.

Dont be bullied, you hang in there, cos I reckon they are just trying to get as much money off as possible.

Also ask the estate agents if they have looked at any other property? Bet they know you are desperate to sell and are playing on it.

Gosh Molly, you are a night owl. I hope it isn't your back that is keeping you up.

Thanks Pam. As you are just starting out with your sale, you will be encouraged to know that the house has only been on the market for just over 6 weeks. Good luck. It is VERY stressful.

They certainly will be in our house!!! Maybe a few more on the first Taverna Club night

Must get off the ceiling now and get down to more practical things.

Find a house
Organise shippers
Organise dog
Continue with de-cluttering
Wind up business
Sell stuff
Stock up on swimsuits

Have another drink

Sort out bank accounts
Start packing little used stuff
Take clothes to charity shop (too small ones with no hope)
Dismantle office
Organise mail

Have another drink....... you know how it goes.

And, best of all, I can get out of the goldfish bowl and go back to living like a slob!!!!!!

Chuffed is an understatement Gary. I have been dreaming of this move since 1986 and never thought it would happen. Looks like I will be living that dream soon after all.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. You are all a great support and may we long continue to be supportive of each other.

Another significant milestone for me was reached yesterday - we have booked our one way flights for the 14th May. Surprisingly we managed to get flights with Thomsonfly from Cardiff for £137 each, which is cheap from here. We could have got Gatwick with Easyjet for £70, but it would have costs us the difference in travel costs, not to mention the 5 hours in the car!!!!! So, see you all on the 15th May

I also had a bit of a shopping spree with Sam yesterday and managed to buy 3 new swimsuits, amongst other things. I need a stock of them.

I spoke to someone who has a house to rent, but it is not going to be suitable for us, and also had a reply from PaphosDirect, so I have started the house-hunt. I hope we find something quickly as I would like to spend more of my time when I am over next month meeting some of you lovely people.

I have a couple of questions to ask and hope someone can help - it is about insurance. Can or should we arrange insurance before we come, both medical and for the car, or do we wait until we arrive? Also, are there any recommendations for either.

Hi Tina

Dont forget to ask your Insurance Company for proof of no claims.

We also had cover on our car from the U.K. to just cover us for a month or so whilst we sorted out our car insurance here. We are with the Laiki bank.

Thanks for the reminder Molly, although it is on a list somewhere.

I have accounts with Laiki Bank too so will ask them when I go in next month. What about Medical Insurance???

Tina - we are covered by the General. But to be honest if I have needed anything so far, we go private and pay for it.

I went for a brain CT scan ( a little while ago when I had a fall ) and it cost me (I think) about £200. This included the doc's fee as well.

Update on the house-hunting. I have had replies to several emails I have sent out and earmarked a few properties to look at next month, one of which is actually in Ineia which would be ideal for keeping an eye on the builders. It is a bit basic, but I can put up with that for a year. It would make me appreciate our house more when it is finally finished anyway.

I have also got the details now of someone who comes highly recommended (thanks Verity) who I am going to ring about Daisy (the dog) and had another quote for shipping, which is looking favourite at the moment.

All in all things are moving along nicely and I am panicking less at the moment. That maybe something to do with organising Sam's departure next weekend, so she is doing all the panicking. I am sure that when I get back at the end of March it will be quite different, as we are aiming to get the house packed up and shipped a couple of weeks before we complete so that we don't have to wait too long for it to arrive in Cyprus. That means I will only have a couple of weeks. Best get on with the de-cluttering then!!!!! Spending too much time on PP

Isn't decluttering just the worst. It takes soooo long cos you stop to look at everything.

I had kept all my kid's school reports, paintings etc. and use to just sit there reading and looking at them. Then wondered where all the time went.

Hi Molly . Yes Ive been doing the same, I have two of our daughters here at the moment and have offered them their old school books and all they have done is sit there and read them, we have had a good laugh at some of the spelling though.
It does make you feel better though once some of the rubbish, Opps sorry mean treasures, have been sorted and disposed of.
Cupboards are getting less cluttered by the day.
Two more weeks and our house should be ready to go on the market

You know it was the sorting out that took longer than the actual packing.

Such memories, all those painting rolled up for so long that the paint started to crack when opened again.

All those 'all important' school reports......now its the grandchildren's paintings, reports etc.

Just reaing your diary makes me feel tired.Maybe i should start getting rid of some of our stuff.Only joking and it must bring back memories when you are going through things.

If you follow the diaries i am sure all will fall into place.
