As of Tuesday, people over the age of 30 will also be eligible for vaccination with the booster jab against Covid-19, the health ministry announced on Monday.

So far, only those aged 40 and over were able to have the shot.

According to the ministry, those aged 30 and over will be able to either book an appointment through the vaccination portal or go to a walk-in centre.

Eligible are people who have received their second dose, or their first dose in the case of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, at least six months prior to the date of the administration of the booster jab. For people who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the service is available only at walk-in vaccination centres.

The walk-in centres in all districts operate from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.

People who are not registered in Gesy can get vaccinated at the walk-ins every Friday.

The health ministry reminds that daily, from 8am until 3pm the following walk-ins operate:

-State Fair, centres A, B, C and D

-Latsia Health Centre

-Spyros Kyprianou Sports Centre in Limassol, centres A, B, C, and D

-Linopetra Health Centre

-Troodos Hospital (Kyperounta)

-Larnaca Port, centres A, B, C and D

-Famagusta General Hospital

-Paphos General Hospital

From 3pm and 6pm and Saturdays until 1 pm, however, some centres are not available. During those hours, open for vaccinations are:

-State Fair, centres A, B, C and D

-Spyros Kyprianou Sports Centre in Limassol, centres A, B, C, and D

-Larnaca Port, centres A, B, C and D

-Famagusta General Hospital

-Paphos General Hospital

The ministry said that people who received the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines during the initial vaccination will receive the same vaccine for the booster dose. Individuals initially vaccinated with AstraZeneca will be able to choose an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer/ BioNTech or Moderna). People who have received the Johnson & Johnson can get vaccinated with either an mRNA technology vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson.

At the same time, vaccinations with the first and second dose continue, the ministry said.

All people must present proof of identification (identity card, passport, Alien Registration Card, etc.), as well as their vaccination card, if they will receive the second or third dose.

In the UK they are now saying the gap between 2nd jab and booster needs to be only 3 months. This is an attempt to fight the omicron variant so hopefully Cyprus will follow
