With all areas showing reduced cases of coronavirus, the island is almost in the ECDC’s Green category, the ministry of health’s National Report, released on Friday showed.

The island’s case rate over the last 14 days was 92.1 per 100,000, and to be counted as Green it must fall as low as 75.

Some districts already have case numbers that are this low. In Larnaca the number fell to 30.2 from 99.3, in Nicosia to 63.5 from 103.9 and in Paphos to 53.5 from 54.5 compared to the previous two weeks. In Famagusta the number fell to 139.1 from 222.9 and in Limassol to 166.7 from 177.2.

For the two weeks the positivity rate was around 0.1 per cent, the ministry said.

Again, the most cases were found among younger age groups, where vaccine coverage is lowest.

The 20-29 age group saw 23.1 per cent of cases and the 30-39 year olds 21.1.

Per 100,000 people in the 14 days the number for the 20-59 age group was 109.5, while this fell to 42.3 for the 60-69 years old, 22.6 for 70-79 year olds and 29.9 for those aged 80 and over.
