In order to speed up the vaccination of the population the government has announced a new schedule for the Covid-19 vaccinations, meaning the portal for the age group from 49 to 50 will only remain open on Wednesday and not until Thursday evening as originally announced.

The portal opened at 7.30 am for the 49-50 age group and by 9.00 am, a total of 8710 appointments were booked of which 7890 were for Pfizer shots and the remainder for AstraZeneca.

It will be open until 8pm and all interested persons are urged to arrange their appointment within the day.

Because of low interest for appointments on the second day, the portal will remain open only for one day per age group. The schedule for appointments from Thursday until Sunday has been updated as follows:

Age group 47-48: Thursday, April 22

Age group 45-46 Friday, April 23

Age group 57-58 Saturday, April 24

Age group 59-60 Sunday, April 25

Appointments can be made from 7.30am until 8pm on these days.

The vaccinations for the appointments on the above dates will be carried out in vaccination centres which operate in all districts, with the available licensed vaccines.

At a later time, all age groups who have not been vaccinated on the above dates will be able to schedule another appointment.

“As of April 20, a total of 219,654 vaccinations (25 doses per 100 inhabitants) were administered, of which 161,389 (18.3 per cent) related to the administration of the first dose and 58,265 (6.6 per cent) related to the administration of both doses,” the ministry said.
