The following measures will be in force from 6.00 am on December 11 to December 31, 2020, the health ministry announced on Wednesday after an extraordinary meeting by cabinet approved the new coronavirus regime.

Prohibition on movement between 9.00 pm and 5.00 am, excluding:
Going to and from work and for work purposes, with use of the employee movement form,

Going to a medical centre or hospital or pharmacy or vet for urgent medical reasons

Movement of hunters to and within a non-prohibited hunting area as set out in the law from 3.00 am, only on days when hunting is permitted (they must have their hunter’s licence with them).

Maximum of two people (excluding underage children) can congregate in public areas (parks, squares, dams, picnic sites, beaches, pedestrian paths and marina etc.)
Up to 10 people allowed to congregate in homes, including underage children
Church services and other religious ceremonies to be carried out without the presence of a congregation.
Church ceremonies (weddings, christenings, funerals) are permitted with a maximum number of 10 people.
As from Monday, December 14, the operation of lyceums and higher educational institutions will be carried out with distance learning. Nursery schools, primary schools and gymnasiums (lower secondary) continue to operate as normal. This applies to both the public and private sector.
No visits permitted at hospitals, clinics and medical and diagnostic centres.
Operation of all catering businesses (restaurants, taverns, cafeterias, pubs, snack bars, and bars, coffee shops, catering businesses within malls, canteens and/or sports clubs, cultural associations, clubs etc) is suspended with the exception of delivery and take away (only delivery after 9.00 pm).
Catering establishments within hotels and tourist premises can operate until 9.00 pm only to serve clients spending the night there (with a maximum number permitted depending on the size, of 40 people inside and 80 outside).

In addition, catering businesses at Paphos and Larnaca Airports can continue to operate.

Operation of outdoors and indoors theatres, amphitheatres, cinemas and venues for shows is suspended.
Farmer’s markers will operate at 50% occupancy and with 1.5 metres between people, as per the protocol.
The prohibition on mass and other events, gatherings, parades, concerts, outdoor fetes, Christmas bazaars, festivals in public and private spaces remains in force.
Transport Minister to regulate capacity of public transport.
Operation of malls is suspended.
Operation of rest of retail trade is permitted, including large department stores, department stores and large shops over 500 square metres, with adherence to the rule of one person per 10 square metres of space. These shops should regulate access to ensure that the rules on maximum numbers are adhered to.
Operation of gyms, dance schools and other sports schools is suspended. Only personal training is permitted.
Betting shops can continue to operate under the guidelines of the health ministry and the national betting authority and provided that the rule of a maximum of one person per 10 square metres is adhered to and clients remain in the premises only for the time needed to fill in and hand over their coupon or to be paid their winnings.
Operation of casinos is suspended.
Operation of swimming pools is suspended except for people with disabilities for therapeutic exercise or for training of up to four people, including the coach.
Gyms, swimming pools and spas as well as catering establishments within hotels and tourist establishments can operate exclusively to cater for their clients staying overnight (catering must close at 9.00 pm).
Limassol and Larnaca port will operate only for commercial transactions and activities. The disembarkation of cruise ship passengers is prohibited.
Sport
Suspension of training and sport events for those under 18

Suspension of operation and use of indoor sports facilities, excluding the following:

(i) operation of sport facilities exclusively for persons and teams (up to four people) including the coach and without spectators

(ii) operation of sport facilities for training and matches, without spectators for championships of teams in category one, two and three, and national team, with adherence to hygiene protocols.

(iii) operation of sport facilities for training of high performance athletes who are included on the list of the Cyprus Sports Organisation with the participation of up to four persons including the coach, such as athletes who have secured or are seeking qualification to the Olympic Games and/or are in the high performance and talent schemes of the Cyprus Sports Association.

All group tuition centre classes and sport and social activities for under-18 year olds are prohibited.
Tele-education and teaching with the physical presence of up to two people is permitted.

The operation of the courts continues on the basis of the guidelines of the Supreme Court in consultation with the health ministry.
Food retail shops will continue to exclusively serve people over 65 and those with disabilities from their opening until 9.00 am.
Suspension of operation of nightclubs, discos, nightclubs and dance venues continues.
Suspension of operation of children’s play areas, luna parks and theme parks, continues.
Conferences, trade fairs and art exhibitions are suspended.
Visits to care homes, centres for the chronically ill, premises for vulnerable groups, temporary shelters for the homeless, day care centres, children protection centres are prohibited excluding visits to people with disabilities where each individual can receive two visits a week and in exceptional circumstances the official in charge will consider additional visits.
Suspension of operation of camping sites.
Prohibition on entering or leaving reception centres for asylum seekers for anyone other than new asylum applicants.
Staff are exempted from the ban. Entrance/exit will also be permitted by exception for humanitarian or medical reasons following permission from the interior minister.
