The one bit that the government didn't word very well is that the rules say that you cannot visit people in hospital, but it reads as if you can't go to GP appointments etc, which is not correct.

Just been advised from Dr Molly,s surgery

That GP surgery,s are now closed

You can contact by email or phone only between 9 am and 2 pm
Dr Molly,s usual opening times

Repeat prescriptions online

No surgery visits at all

My follow up blood tests for next week all stopped

What about all of those waiting for flu Jabs ?

This is a move I don,t understand as none of us stop having other health issues

But as with all other rules...will follow through

Do they say why they have closed? Has someone there contracted Covid-19 perhaps?

I have just checked the new rules again and it only says no visitors to hospitals. To deny people access to their doctors would be incredibly dangerous and could potentially cause more problems than coronavirus!

During the previous lockdown patients had to contact their Personal Doctor, request repeat prescriptions via email or telephone etc and were forbidden from turning up at the hospital or private clinic.
Anything to limit the movement of vulnerable people is a good thing - the doctor will make the decision on a person by person basis.

It is as Alexis says to stop people to people transmission

The lock down includes no actual visits to GP,s and to any diagnostic clinics

Do you know where it actually says that as the Cyprus Mail just says no visitors and my GP is still seeing patients.

I spoke with my GP yesterday and she said that she had no instructions to close and that she was working. I telephoned the General Hospital as I have an appointment on Wednesday for an essential procedure that is already a week late and without which I will have serious problems which will require a visit to an A&E department. The switchboard woman was a moron and couldn't tell me if the hospital she was in was open for business!

The last and only previous time an appointment was cancelled resulted in a trip to A&E which was incredibly unpleasant and painful as there was no-one available qualified or able to complete the procedure correctly. I don't want that again!

So far I have been unable to speak with my consultant and my phone is out of order so he cannot contact me until CYTA fixes it - hopefully today. I spent hours calling CYTA yesterday, listening to the same three dreadful tunes over and over again - for so long I had to recharge my mobile. I got through once and was immediately cut off. Eventually I was able to speak to a technician and the service call was listed.

My oncologist in Nicosia has texted to say my appointment there for a check-up is still on. I have not yet phoned PASYKAF to arrange a blood test. :)

As if that wasn't enough, my water filter is leaking and the service agent is unable to travel from Limassol, because of the shutdown, so I will have to go out this morning to see if anywhere is open to sell me the tool I need to fix it myself.

What a mess! It could be worse. I could be in England having to rely on the NHS. :rain :tickedoff

Sorry to hear of your troubles KG
Unfortunately some else, who need to attend Nicosia hospital pointed this out "As of 5am on Wednesday November 18, all those persons exempt from the travel restrictions will additionally be required to display a negative PCR [coronavirus] test that has been issued at most seven days prior to the date of travel."

What tool is it you need or what does it look like? someone on here might be able to help

Here is part of the actual text from Dr Molly's Facebook page
"IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
New Government Covid related restrictions come into effect from 8pm 12/11/20 to 30/11/20
In accordance with the Ministry of Health's statement issued last night "Visits to public and private hospitals, clinics, medical and diagnostic centers are prohibited" the practice will be closed with immediate effect.
Dr. Molly will be able to make telephone calls for urgent consultations and for those patients who have the technical confidence, video conference calls with tools such as Skype, Facetime and Messenger can also be used.
Dr Molly will continue to be available between 9am - 2pm on Monday to Friday for such consultations.

It would appear that it is open to interpretation

At least G&P in Chlorakas was open this morning so I was able to purchase the required tool. If I was superstitious I might be concerned that it is Friday 13th today. :sunny
