My sister was born with Downs Syndrome in the early 70's. The people in my village didnt know what to make of this new baby as she was described as a Mongol and we hadnt ever had one before in our neck of the woods.

No one would look in the pram, or speak to my parents about her, they all crossed the street. Then one little girl did look in the pram and shouted - "She doesnt look like a mongrel mum.. Its a baby"

With that, everyone laughed a sigh of relief and it broke the ice.

That is THE only joke I can or will ever tolerate about people with Downs Syndrome - or Mongols as they were called then.

Even today, people will call others a "Mong", in a disparaging way, to describe someone who they think is stupid. It seems to be allowed, whereas the use of the terms c**n or n*****r or q****r would result in the person using the term being berated as prejudiced and ignorant, if not offensive or sued in some cases.

This man, this so called comedian, has just taken one step too far in his need to be ironically clever and soo so superior.

I hope his career ends!!!
