Having looked at previous threads and still not being any closer to answering questions *sigh* sorry but I have to ask....

My mum is getting rid of her car- Chrysler Matiz, 800cc, 11000 miles on clock, 2006 reg.

How much will it cost to ship out here?
How much does the registration etc cost for a small, fairly new car?

Is it worth it????????

Many apologies if I am beating a dead donkey here but the Cypriot webpages that someone listed in another thread (by Judge) won't show properly on my laptop as I refuse to use Windoze Word......

I have just opened up the spreadsheet for you (Excel), and there are a couple of extra bits of information required - actual age of the car and the CO2 emissions. If the emissions fall into the lowest category (0-120), and the age of the car is 1/7/2006, then the duty payable works out at €185.00

The website is http://www.mof.gov.cy/mof/customs/Custo ... enDocument

Can't help about the cost of shipping, but contact any of the shippers and they will be able to quote you.

Using Andrews Shipping of London and Grimaldi ferries from Southampton (Grimaldi only use agents) then it should be £400 to ship. the tax will be wallies (relatively) so if the cars a goer, consider it a strong possibility.

:heart OMG Jean you are AWESOME! Thank you for doing that!!!! :celebrate

Thats pretty cool- considering I have been thinking about buying a very old second hand car over here that is 600€ then for less than that, I can get my mums very low mileage and only just old enough to have an MOT car- well, no contest really!

Tanny thank you too for the estimate on shipping, I will try a couple of agents and ask if they will charge any more for having a couple of boxes of my personal bits locked in the boot lol!

:clap :bounce thank you both once again!

Give Kelly at ring at M& S Shipping. They shipped all our belongings including our Land Rover Discovery and I would highly recommend them.

Very helpful, ask as many questions as you want. Web site:

A container can be a very expensive way of shipping a car on its own (even with other items), the roro at s'ton or Bristol are much cheaper.
Grimaldi in London will confirm the current agent they use.

Hi,

Just imported my car, last week and it was easy peasy; I did use a clearing agent but she only got my car cleared in Limassol and filled in the customs forms. I wont bore people here with it but if you need info let me know and I will send you my telephone number here in Paphos (am I allowed to do that?). Don’t know if it’s because I am a senior citizen but the men at the customs and transport dept were all very nice to me and showed me the correct places to stand in the queue.

Rita
and for all you girls out there I did it all by myself :bounce

[color=#400080]Can anyone tell me if you have to be a resident to import a car?? :?:
Have an apartment in Paphos and know I can buy a car when in Cyprus, but wondered about possibility of bringing one over on the ferry. Am waiting on a reply from the department of Road Transport, but thought maybe someone in Paphos People could assist.
Thanks!
