Is there any difference between summer and winter as to how often engine oil is changed, or is it simply by mileage. Is there any particular symptoms you can see that would indicate a change is necessary?

For a diesel every 3000km , for older petrol the same, for modern petrol on higher speck oil 5000km.
For a rule of thumb if you have a petol car change oil when dark brown not black .If you dont change your oil regular you engine will look like a burnt out ash tray inside.
