My Greek tutor has made himself available over the summer months for social meetings and gatherings such a s we have from time to time, so what I am proposing is the opportunity to have some basic (very basic) Cypriot Greek lessons with handouts/leaflets for maybe an hour or so coffee break, and then a period of Greek speaking experiences from us attending, and followed by a spot of fun socialising.

We can get an establishment to take us in with no real problem, and the level of Greek will be learning your name, asking for this or that, some numbers, getting your change, very basic stuff.

This would be a great opportunity for members coming on holiday and for those of us lucky enough to live here. There are no age barriers or other barriers and the tutor is a fully registered individual working professionally in the field.

The cost of the tutor and paperwork etc would be spread across those attending so a room of 15 it may only cost about €5. Tea or coffee for a break would be laid on, but consumption of beverages etc beyond this would be at the individuals expense.

It is possible that it could be a regular event, but initially a one off to help people break the ice and embarassment of a difficult tongue is all thats planned.

Its also the perfect opportunity to ask the meaning of any Greek phrases you felt may be a bit near the knuckle, but were too flushed to ask, and a great way to learn how to wangle a particular phras into any situation.

Let me know if you fancy it, the day of week preferred, times preferred and I'll speak to the boss to see what we can do.

Having spoken to Dimitri, he can do most any afternoon/evening. it will be about €5 per head, depending on how many we can get to come. Maybe I'll make the offer to Lesley or the Judges daughter to host the evening and put on some tea, coffee etc as a softener.

But we would like a few more bodies please to make it worth it.

May put my name down could be bit fun as soon as more details are about. Went to "proper" Greek lessons for 3mths when I got here but was far too educational for me I just wanted to know the basics but that wasent what it was so left. As the old saying goes "It (was) all Greek to me"

Me too please - went to night school in the UK for 3 terms, before I moved over. Used to really enjoy going. Just not had time since I moved here.
