According to one of the neighbours it would appear to have been a hand grenade lobbed into another neighbours garden . Wife and I slept through it , but shook others close by.

From todays Cyprus Mail:-

Grenade attack

A BRITISH man, believed to be the CEO of a timeshare company, had a hand grenade thrown into his garden in Emba at around 11.20pm on Tuesday night.

The explosion caused only minor damage but panic ensued in the neighbourhood. Brendan Surgenor, who is a permanent resident of Cyprus, was in the house at the time, but was unhurt.

The bomb damaged the garden and cracked a number of windows in the house. A neighbour told police that he had heard a vehicle making a hasty exit at speed just moments before the explosion.

According to police Surgenor has named a Cypriot man who he believes to have instigated the attack. He cited financial differences as the motive.

Punch-ups in pubs, tourists harassed in the street and now hand grenades. Maybe someone might get the message that timeshare touting is not good for the country's image?
