A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was killed in a scooter accident yesterday morning in Paphos.

According to the police, the victim was riding passenger on the bike, driven by a 15-year-old friend.

For reasons still unclear, the driver lost control of the scooter, sending the bike skidding onto the tarmac. The 15-year-old suffered extensive injuries, and is being treated at Paphos general hospital; his condition is non life-threatening.

Two helmets were found near the scene of the accident, but it is not clear whether the two boys - both British nationals and permanent residents of Cyprus - were wearing them at the time.

This is just such a waste of life

Here's another example.......

I live opposite a pre-school nursery.
This morning, whilst we were sitting
outside our house, a car drew up to the
school and approx. 12 children came out of
the car. Not one of the occupants were "belted-up".
I think the car is a school car and the driver is a
member of staff.
There were only 5 seats in the car.

What a tragedy if!!!

Spencer - with a tag line like life is short, break the rules - enough said.

This is a tragedy - don't sling blame - my Son is friends with these boys - there is heartbreak and grief most of all for his poor parents - our hearts go out to them.

What are you on about. Thats just a saying, it dosnt mean buy you underage child a bike and alow him to ride un-insured on a main road.

It may be sad for the family but someone has to start taking responsabilty for these deaths. First stop the parents who buy the bloody bikes. I also know someone connected with the family and they feel the same way. What the hell was he doing on a bike on the road.

People need to stop pussy footing around and come down hard on these parents. Aslo, spear a thought for the poor bugger who was driving the car the bike overtook, he had the witness the death of the boy, which i imagine will play in his mind for a long time. Hes an innocent party in all this.

I agree, what about the innocent people who get dragged into a nightmare because some people allow/don't know their kids to do this? The parents of the first accident in Paphos have started a hate campaign against the innocent driver - unbelievable.

Its a tragedy but definitely an avoidable one.

The parents should be strung up for that.
