Some only pointed this out to me the other day..

That the dairy in cyprus is allowed under E.U rules to
re-pasturize out of date milk and re bottle it , up to 5 times
If you look on the bottom of a bottle of milk , it will have small stamp on it
telling you how many times it has been re-pasturized .

Not sure how truthful this is though....

Tetra Pak Romania invalidates “re-pasteurized milk” rumours
Tetra Pak Romania answered a rumour launched by e-mail according to which the pasteurized milk not sold during the availability period is retreated from the shelf, re-pasteurized, packed and reintroduced in sale points. The message says also that re-pasteurization can be repeated, the printed figure on the back of the box (2,3,4 or 5) indicating the re-pasteurization number. The electronic message is accompanied by an UHT Tetra Pak milk box photograph on which 1 is circled.

In a press release Tetra Pak says that “The rumour according to which the pasteurized milk would be reprocessed up to 5 times is false and it has started from a wrong interpretation of numbers found on Tetra Pak packaging”.

The packaging producer explains the meaning of the printed figure on the back of the packages, which is obvious in the photograph accompanying the message:” The packaging in the photo is an aseptic packaging (Tetra Pak Aseptic) for UHT milk (Ultra High Temperature) and not for pasteurized milk as shown in the Internet message. That number (circled in the photograph) refers to the roll number on which the packaging material is printed; the printing equipment used in Tetra Pak plants usually has 5 rolls.

So, another false 'round robin' e mail.

Did it say 'FORWARD THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS' Neil?

Thank you greatly Neil,

Ive just turned the bottle over without realising you meant to use a sealed one. I better go out so Tricia can blame Matthew when she gets home. I'll have the look of an angel, as usual.

I wonder what repasturised milk smells like after 6 hours on a hot floor.....

See ya if I am ever allowed in the house again.

Just going back to the subject, and proving what a sad life I have, the number in question on the bottom of the bottle only indicates which mould was used to produce the bottle (seriously, I have a background in plastics and rubber........can hear the sniggers now!!). The bottles are made so quickly, if a duff bottle is found later, they need to know which mould it came from so they can rectify it. If you look inside mobile phones and suchlike, you will find the same thing.

It was slightly embarrasing when the postman delivered the trade periodicals which didn't come in plain wrappers...."The Plastics & Rubber Weekly" and " British Plastics & Rubber"! ......I am not even going to mention the next career move I made, will just say it got even worse.....

Oh dear, what a small world! Which company did you work for aztec678?
I worked for Canon Rubber back in the 70's 80's
Rubber mats and the "Avent" range of plastic baby products.

And before anyone asks NO WE DIDN'T MAKE THEM! That was London Rubber just up the road.

I too had worked out that Neil was talking about the mould ID Number :D

I would have thought Canon Rubber would have been a far better lot to make those things that London Rubber made. You know Canon = explosion, bang, etc etc.

Alright Alright I'm going, stop pushing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Brian.

Worked for a number of companies, ones you might know include Linpac and Caradon Group. Have visited Canon Avent (Before Philips took over) in Sudbury in my later life, re printing of baby bottles off their Italian printing machines.....but lets not get into Tampons, it will only start them off again!!!

Enjoy whats left of the weekend.

Dave
