This thread has now degenerated into the realms of farce.
We now have 2 sides clearly emerging.
There are those members that post regularly on another forum all trying to stir it up again.... Why?
If you like it there then that's fine. If you believe that persons account of past events that is also fine, but you should keep those feelings to yourself.
You cannot judge anything from the outside no matter how close you think you are to the persons involved.

If it turns out, that what has happened is what I think has happened, then so be it, it is neither my business nor anyone else's except the persons directly involved.

Although this thread has not really broken any of the boards T&C's I think it is time for an admin to step in and put an end to it as it is doing no body any good, least of all the forum in general.

Brian

Anyway Brian I don't agree with your last summing up. Fact is this is an open forum and if a member starts a thread as despicable as this one, and other members think it is despicable, then they have evry right to air their views.
It is not a question of taking sides but to laugh at someone losing their livelihood is descipable and not something I would wish on anyone.
I know that if you disagreed with someone or some post on here you'd pipe up also.
Gary

why can't you put it on open forum ?
You were laughing at someone losing their livelihood, you shouldn't full stop.
Anyway I'll do what Brian suggests and call it a day.
Not the cleverest thread you'll ever start Shaun and certainly not the nicest.
Gary

Owen you miss the point completely this occured recently like last night not days ago and as a member have the right to express concern which is why I did something about it today, facts don't change.

The End.

In your opinion it was despicable (although how you could make that call based on the first 2 posts is beyond me)

You are very welcome to not agree with my "summing up" It is no more than I would expect.
I however, will not openly take sides in this, or any other personal dispute. unlike some.

Brian.

what a sad day for paphos people!
this site in my opinion has been on a downwards turn for sometime with its rude and obnoxious comments but this thread is appauling and down right disgusting!
i dont post on here very often anymore but still pop by for a read, as a few months ago i wrote to admin to tell them i was offended by such behaviour and felt the response i got was inadequate but tonight i will break my principle off no posting on PP as i am so disgusted by this!
i suggest admin take note....this was exactly the kind of thread that i was talking about!!!!!!!

[quoteCan you please explain what on earth that issue from the past has got to do with this thread, and why is it necessary to air this one sided version yet again??????
And further more if you really dont understand, then why comment in the first place????][/quote]

I posted this once but it seems to have disappeared (I wonder why?), Jan is on about an accusation that I received about "poaching members of this forum" yesterday, which I deny completely, I have never pm'd or e-mailed anyone about another forum (unless asked for one that is now closed) and never will. The way it was put was most distressing and I for one will no longer be posting on this forum as it is getting toooooooo much like another one.

I have to agree with Julie - no idea whatsoever what this stupid post is all about and don't want to know! This Forum has really gone down IMHO. It is cliquish and full of stupid innuendos :gossip and gossip which is really annoying to those of us who are not regular customers of the Duck Market. To be honest it makes you not want to be a customer there and if these sort of posts continue the Forum will lose many readers/posters and also the Duck Market will lose customers.
Grow up all of you and start offering friendly advice again!! :banghead

Please people - this was one persons' maybe misguided post, latched upon by a lot of people who rarely post on here now. This has been blown up out of all proportion. Yes, it is unfortunate that someone has had to close down their business, but as posted on Carols post - the food health and safety people are doing their rounds, and if the operation was unlicensed, then it would have to close to save the rest of the market. The way round this of course would be for the people concerned to get their license, conform to H & S regulations and re-start the business.

There really seems to have been a hidden agenda here, which I am very sorry to see. PP is an excellent forum - I would say the best, which unfortunately has been subjected to some difficult times over the past months. What I feel is worst is that there appears to be a "whisper campaign" started against us. Come on folks, forums are not the be all and end all of life - there is a beautiful island out there, fabulous restaurants and genuine people - let's not forget this, and get back to the way things were.

You know, i wrote a long post there, and then just deleted it, as whats the point? I would only get heckled for having my say and then get het up over it, this forum is so bad now, that there really is no point in posting anymore.

Well said Jean. Thankfully Carol has now made it public the events of yesterday so maybe all should remember that it is nothing to do with anyone apart from the Duckie Cafe and the market managers.

Lets all move on.

Jean, I officially love you! :heart

I was out at footy last night and have just read through this thread with a mixture of bewilderment, annoyance and disappointment and was just about to sit and pen a reply only to find you had said pretty much everything I wanted to!

Thank you!

Crikey.

All this thread has proved is that too many people spend too much time on their PC, have the inability to voice their opinions face to face and take some weird pleasure from other people's misfortunes.

I have absolutely no clue what the thread is about, having forced myself to read it all. However, in my opinion it simply appears that some people are bored with Corrie, Eastenders, and the Yorkshire Dales these days, so they create their own little world on a forum.

Thank God I have a baby to take up my time and keep me entertained!

As for the chorus of 'This forum has degenerated from a happy place......etc'- to be fair it was a bit too happy clappy in the early days with everyone praising each other and crying hallelujah (someone times i felt like i should do a jig any time it was announced that Mrs Smith had made a cup of tea!). The forum now has it's fair share of comments in poor taste, but EVERY forum has it's trolls and it is a long and thankless task trying to weed them out. If you want offensive, try googling cyprus and forum.

The event so widely discussed by so many people who, with all due respect, have nothing to do with the subject matter was a private matter between 2 parties the Duck Pond Organisers and the stallholder.
The job of the organisers is difficult, if not impossible at times and when matters of immotive nature occur the last thing they want is everyone else throwing in their twopennyworth. It is always hard to make a decision based on Regulations and Directives of others and whilst all possible can be down to get round such conditions it is not always possible.
It would be nice if closure was imposed by the PP Admin team as enough is enough save that we hope those effected may return with alternative wares. They merely were making what we are all there for an income period.
