Hardly ground breaking international development but something of minor interest .... I was cycling this morning to St George from Kissonerga and passed over not one, but two rivers flowing into Potima bay ('banana'). On the way back rode up to the Mavrokolympos (the one signposted on the road through Potima) reservoir and it is overflowing !! First time in quite a few years by all accounts, the sound of the water falling down the overflow path like a waterfall across the valley was great !!

Not a particularly descriptive image i know but didn't have opportunity to stop to take a shot of the overflow !

Hi BigDutch

Is this the reservoir that you can see from the road to the Adonis Baths & Waterfall? If so, we went up to have a look at it in January and it was still a long way below the tide mark. There must have been considerable rain to fill it up to overflowing.

Hi Kevin, yes thats the one. You can get 'round the back' of the dam to the small waterfall using the fairly decent road from Tala that passes Vatouthkia restaurant, or there is a road that eventually heads up towards Akoursos & Kathikas that looks down into the Mavrokolympos 'valley' where you can turn off onto a dodgy track to take you to 'Adonis Falls'. i've heard that the falls apparently have no historic importance at all, just an opportunist.

I was up there mid February and the water line was a few metres short of the old tide mark, if thats what you can call it.

Great news anyway, just I thought that id put this link on so you can watch the progreesion of the Dams all over the island.

March MCM was at 19,000 on 24/3/09

Sorry just noticed someone else had put the link on
