Anyone got ideas on how to ship an outboard to paphos. It only weighs 18 k an auxiliary for my boat. Why not buy in Paphos you ask, because it was £600 cheaper in the U.K.

As long as its not too bulky you could ask someone to bring it out as excess baggage.

In globespan 18Kg, would cost only £30.

Just go on the internet there are literaly dozens of shipping companys, shop around you'll be spoilt for choice, I've just sent an old 1962 guitar worth £2000 to France without a problem.

we shipped an electric winch for our boat last month with http://www.wedelivertheworld.com they used TNT as the carriers, it took 4 days to get here, weighed 20kg and cost £44. Excellent service, they collected the parcel from my daughter and notified me when it had arrived in Larnaca and I picked it up from the TNT depot. :clapping

Thanks for the heads-up Carollynne. Tried the link, but came up with this:

Do you suppose it's because we're in Cyprus? Lloyd

Thanks Carolynne, looks interesting. Looks like they will collect from Cyprus and ship Worldwide. Could be useful to us, as our business ships worldwide and the couriers in Cyprus are anything but cheap :) Lloyd

I've just had a very good quote from them for delivering a shower enclosure and shower screen. Picked up at the door which can't be bad.

We have used a carrier(someone has already recommended) their service is really excellent.Shipping via http://www.wedelivertheworld.com is a door to door service and pick up should be in Paphos depot of TNT or DHL. Travelling to collect in Limassol or Larnaca is not the contracted service offered and paid for. We were told by phone to collect from Limassol and said we said we would at their expense. It quickly came to Paphos. The cube is often the "weight" calculated for shipping. Two recent shipment one of 9 Kilos was costed at 13.5 Kg(cube weght) but was still only £33.52 collected Friday UK collected from DHL Paphos Monday 10 am.The other shipment came for £16.53 door to door.

Thanks kayjay; have re-read your post several times and I'm not sure whether http://www.wedelivertheworld is the supplier you're saying was "really excellent"; or whether it was another supplier, not named. I'm really keen to find out, as we ship packages ranging from 30-120kg to Europe and Middle East, but could be anywhere. We are supposed to be on DHL's best tariff (the one the big boys get) and I have reason to believe this is true; but even so the prices are eye-watering. It can be the difference between us getting an order or not.

All carriers charge on the basis of actual weight or volumetric weight - whichever is the higher. Although DHL have a calculator on their website (just feed in the three dimensions of the package), the volumetric weight is generally considered to be L x B x H divided by 5,000.

The rates you quote are CHEAP! To collect a 3kg package from overseas, the minimum DHL would charge us would be €69; so I'm keen to find out more about your recommended shipper. Thanks in advance. Lloyd

Just to re-iterate this excellent service and their prices.
Just booked a shower enclosure 27k and a shower screen 10k for £75 which includes insurance. I'm over the moon with that price, particularly as shower enclosures are half price at B&Q at the moment.
