Marina,I will pm you with more detail but certainly Ken was very pleased with him and he has seen others over the last 12 months who were not up to Wilf's standards.

Thanks for the contact details, I read somewhere that he had been arrested for witchcraft or something.

I went to see him with 3 work colleauges about 2 years ago. I was very sceptical as I never believed in all that stuff, but it was pretty astonishing. I had never met him before and all I told him was my name, and he got the name of my dead grandmother and father in law right, my children, businesses and properties and a whole load of other stuff that he couldn't possibly have known. He also said that I would have to go the UK when a close family member was ill with stomach problems - later that year my eldest daughter was very ill with pleurisy and pneumonia! To be honest the whole session was actually fairly spooky as I couldn't really see how he could know all that sutff - but he was very nice, it was like having a chat with a friend.

I would quite like to see him again to get an update (may be we should offer it as an extra to our wedding couples!) I have a few things on my mind at the mo, we and a number of other people were ripped off by a UK developer who owes me a 6 figure sum and we have been trying to get this back for over two years so it would be interesting to see what he has to say about that. I might also ask him for winning lottery ticket numbers and also what the euro/sterling exchange rate is likely to be next year!

Whow Sue, that is spooky - keep us informed as to how you get on, if you have another appointment with him.

There is no doubt he is clever at what he does, but I must admit to extreme scepticism. So what did happen to the prosecution for witchcraft? Clearly he hasn't been burnt at the stake.

I don't want to be offensive Sue, but stomach problems aren't usually associated with pleurisy or pneumonia...

I take your point, but the lungs and stomach are pretty close together, or may be I am just gullible!

I've got an appointment to see him on Friday.
A couple of years ago we were attending a party and a man there read a few palms. He didn't know anybody else at the party but apparantly he was 100% accurate with what he was saying. When he got to mine, he said there is so much going on that he couldn't do it then but I should see him privately. Now he did not do this for a living, he never accepts money, he just said the "gift" ran through his family. This worried me a bit but I just never got around to seeing him again. For the next year life was like a roller coaster, so much went on.. I'm hoping that he'll be able to tell me that everything the other guy foresaw is coming to an end!

It's generally the law of percentages - I've read quite a lot about how people can believe in stuff like this, and in illness terms it usually boils down to pointing to the head or stomach, as 90% of ailments have at least some symptoms in those areas.

You will often hear quite general terms, that people who desperately want to believe can twist to a great degree to make it fit what they want to hear. Safe to say, no-one has ever even come close to replicating convincing results under test conditions.

I'm not necessarily saying the bloke is a con-man by the way - one thing James Randi (the chap offering the 1 million dollar reward I posted earlier) makes a point of saying is that often these people genuinely believe they have a gift, and the feedback they get from clients provides a positive feedback loop that keeps them going, and strengthens this belief in their own "abilities"

You just have to look at someone like Derren Brown to see how some people can be astonishingly good at discerning information from the slightest of clues, but this is a strictly human ability - there really isn't anything supernatural at play in my opinion.

Spot on Captain. No clairvoyant has ever been able to successfully demonstrate their powers under test conditions. However, many people get some form of solace or support from such people, as others do from religion, so it could be said he provides a service. Where difficulties and concerns arise is where money changes hands. Unfortunately, this is the case here.

My personal view is that I would no more visit a clairvoyant than I would engage in worship of some god or another. To me they are all a load of nonsense. Others won't share that view of course, but hopefully they won't object to me having mine.
