Cor blimey, did you see the opening ceremony of the Beijing olympics? Now there's an hard act to follow.I'll bet Seb Coe and his London oympic commitee are now going to have some sleepless nights wondering how they're going to top that lot.Does anyone think that the London show in 2012 is going to be an embaressment or do you think the British bulldog spirit will come up trumps?
Don't forget, have we not had the Red Arrows flight at the 2012 olympics (rightly or wrongly) banned for fear off offending other nations,,whats next?

Funnily enough, I was watching the opening ceremony last night, while chatting to a friend who was also watching the same station. We also passed comment that London would have to do something amazing to even match, never mind top that! I think one comment was, "They're gonna have to practice from now for the next four years to even match it!"

Well got in from work and once up decided to read paper and read about how many homes demolished to make way for the buildings etc.I don't think Uk can compete.

I loved the opening ceremony and it was amazing to watch...can UK beat that in 2012? I don't know, but having seen the determination by the promoting team and members like Seb Coe I think they'll give it their best shot and a show to remember.
Good luck to all teams at the Beijing Olympics. :iamwin

I hope there is etter planning than the logo.Spent all that money for someone to design a logo that caused lots of news. Then the newspapers asked folk to design there own.Would have saved £400.Looking forward to see what uk will produce.Either good or an embarrassment.

It is not too often I find myself agreeing with the Guardian, but this morning's issue (mentioned on Sky News) appears spot on about the Olympics
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/aug/10/1.

And has no-one noticed that while the collective backs of the world's press are turned to look at China, the really important issue of the day is unfolding in Georgia?
