Hi i am shipping an empty display trailer 6ft by 4 ft< don't ask why as i will not tell > :wink: to Cyprus. Will i have to pay V.A.T or any other tax on it when it arrives? If yes any idea how much this will cost please. It is going in 2 weeks time, so i can pick it up when i arrive on the 31st Aug. I have already arrange for the shipping company to take it, i just have to drop it off at there port on the 21st. :mrgreen:

Mark.
I brought over a small box trailer. No VAT, Import duty or any other restrictions.
However;
You are supposed to register all trailers with transport dept. and get a reg no for them, "crazy or what?" you then display 2 number plates on the back of the trailer. One for the car and a second for the trailer. (only in Cyprus could this crazyness exist :lol: )
If the trailer is a recognised make then it is I'm told it's just a formality. If on the other hand the trailer has been "custom made" you have to have it inspected by a qualified automotive engineer. :shock: like a mini MOT.
The girl in the insurance office told me. (And I quote.) "If it's only a small trailer and you don't use it much I wouldn't bother"

So I guess it's up to you.

Brian

Brian are you winding me up :shock: How stupid is that having 2 number plates on a trailer. Well at least i will not get charge with the extra tax on top so can't really moan about it. It is a brand new trailer from AJC in northampton, so i better bring all the paper work with me then just in case.

Thanks Brian :congrats
