We are buying a holiday, and we hope to rent it out.

Would you deal with an Insurance Company in Cyprus or the UK? I have tried to contact a well known company in Paphos three times, without receiving an answer.

If you have only tried by email then send a fax or 'phone them ...... a lot of Cypriots i know aren't too hot on the emailing front.

I don't think UK insurers will cover homes abroad ? if they do then sounds an option to me.

Have you tried AB insurance, they offer holiday home cover via either a Cypriot company or a UK based company. English staff. telephone number 26811792. Website http://www.abinsure.com

BigDutch you're not kidding are you about not answering e-mails. I telephoned a company in Limassol yesterday and they asked me to e-mail them my requirements as they did not have the price list and guess what still no reply.

I would be surprised if you can get cover from the UK (other than through a Cypriot agent), but it is worth investigating.

Pacific Insurance Brokers in Paphos usually reply to e-mails (and most companies here still use fax extensively).

If you are worried about the cost of the phone calls whilst ringing around Cyprus from the UK, use Skype to make the calls for a few coppers. Though frankly a few pounds spent on the phone will be the least of your expenses if you are thinking of letting out the property..

Try Pacific on [email protected]
Phone +357 (26) 911193
Fax +357 (26) 911196

though I am a tad annoyed with them at the moment for underquoting for my toy car by €150, because they hadn't allowed for the fact that a cabrio is classed as a convertible, which commands a higher premium :(

Agree with KG. A very nice lot Pacific. Ask for Natalie. Extremely helpful.
