Hi PP,
well......i can't believe it! i seriously owe Nico and apology! There is sun in the u.k and its blooming warm too! I dropped Dave off at work this morning at half 7 and picked up the little boy i look after a few days a week and then me and the three boys went straight to Morrisons and Iceland to do the weekly shop, it was all put away by half 9 and now where relaxing in the sunshine....and its very warm, not a cloud in the sky! I would guess this is definately the warmest day this year and i'm loving it! but in a strange sort of way it makes me miss Cyprus even more....oh well just have to jump in the whale shaped paddling pool if it hots up any more!

Whats it like where you are folks?

Emma

I have to say I am definately excited but not getting very far today because of the heat.

I've just been to the registry office to get a copy of my birth certificate and walked straight into a friends, sisters wedding

A room full of people in all their glory and me in my shorts and t-shirt  Mind they said it wouldn't have been a show without punch :smilielol

Back to the packing then!

Jackie

Storm pounds the north
July 26, 2008, 4:11 pm
ADVERTISEMENT

The Whangarei CBD's been closed as one of the strongest storms to hit the country in a decade unleashes havoc. The weather system is expected to swirl south and be centred on Auckland around midnight.

More than a thousand homes in Northland are without electricity as the result of trees being blown down on to power lines. Wind gusts earlier this afternoon reached 165 kilometres an hour at Cape Brett east of Russell in the Bay Of Islands.

Whangarei District Council spokeswoman Ann Midson says a number of roads have been closed because of flooding. She says things are getting pretty bad with trees down and slips reported.

In Auckland the storm has brought down power lines and prompted flood warnings. There are reports a boat has been blown from its mooring at Westhaven Marina and is bashing against the lower part of the Harbour Bridge.

Police have been clearing away roofing iron that has blown from houses in Otara onto the southern motorway.

Tamaki Drive along the Auckland waterfront is closed.

The Desert Road is closed by snow, and State Highway 12 at Taheke in the Far North is affected by flooding. Cars are trapped in the floodwaters near Rakauwahia Road.

Power outages are affecting 25,000 homes in the Rodney and Waitakere areas of the Auckland region. Vector says high winds have caused a number of faults on the electricity network. The company says it is doing everything it can to restore supply, but the winds are stopping crew from repairing faults on overhead lines, or carrying out work clearing trees from lines without risking their safety. Vector says it can not give an estimate of when power will be fully restored, and says customers should be prepared for prolonged outages.

This is the weather in Auckland & the worst is due to hit at midnight. Last time we had a similar weather pattern our fence was torn out of the ground (concrete) & thrown 100 metres down the road. Beat that!

Ann

Well today is lovely up here in Narnia. We have clouds and it is very windy. Thermometer reading 24. We have had to shut some of the windows!!!!!! It feels like a July day in Pembrokeshire - all we need now is the horizontal rain

Yes, I know Pete - my mate lives in Australia, but they don't get snow! When I spoke to her last week it was about 20 degrees - I think that's what made it stand out even more for me.

Your friend mustn't live in the South then, as they have the Snowy Mountain range, that where they get all the water from, great for Ski-ing or so I've been told, I have a few friends & lot of family over in Australia, 6 generations I believe

See, I told you so, it was the sun I saw the other day. Nobody believed me did they

Fantastic day here in the Cotswolds, Phil, Matt and Zoe gone off to cricket and I'm here catching up with stuff before probably going down a bit later for a drink.

The last couple of days have seen temps reach 80 - just to get us in the mood for Paphos next week. Can't wait now, getting very excited. :celebrate :celeb2

Enjoy the weather everybody.

Kat - I know exactly what you mean about teenagers bedrooms, just emerged from Matt's room. You know that advert where the mum goes in all dressed up in an oxygen mask - that's me!!

Why can't they walk 15 foot across the landing and put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket
