Hi Maureen.

She'll be a good travel companion I'm sure, she's quite witty.

Hopefully the procedure will be easy enough for her to follow. Globespan were fine once on board and in the air, so assistance may not be as needed as you first thought. Its easy for you to take her from the check in to security gate at PFO, and if she sits heself near a screen she shouldnt go wrong.

Strange that she cannot fly as an unaccompanied minor, at that age, most other airlines have no problem, I have seen many on flights with CY.

I think Globespan want her to be escorted all the way.

just to say i managed to adopt a family (ok'd with airline)last night for my daughter and her dad met her at the other side......... although on reflection i thought god i could have been anyone sending a child out of the country..... so anyone with a grown up teenager under 16 (did i just put grown up and teenager in same sentence ha ha!) dont book on flyglobespan if having to send them home to scotland on their own.

She landed safely and now at her dads for the next two weeks and her elder sister is flying back out with her so i wont have the issue the other end!!!!!!

phew ..... relieved mum

maureen, glad your daughter got back safe, my 17 year old daughter and my 5 year old son flew back on same flight didnt want to contact you as since emily is 17 and already had a5 year old in her charge i didnt think we could help you! when we booked the flight they classed an adult as 16 but after your post i checked the website and saw they have now changed it to 18, so i was a bit anxious about it too! anyway no problems at paphos however emily said she got a real quizzing at passport control at glasgow as she is not 18! no real problems though they are back safe sound we have really missed them! emily is 18 next month so next time they visit gran and grandad i will have no worries!!

it did stipulate in globespan terms and conditions they could fly on their own under 18 if they had a letter from parents..... so i dont know why they were being difficult also the age limit change from 16 to 18 is very recent as emily and robbie flew out and back on their own at easter with no questions asked! oh well all done and dusted!

hope your daughter enjoys her trip to scotland weather quite good our car was registering the temp at 17 when we left kirkcaldy at 4 oclock for the airport! not bad for us!!

hi paphosgirl

yes we seem to be .....if u have read everything yes ok on hindsight but it was me who commented first and to be fair i did it just in case other parents/grand parents ended up in the same boat ......OOPS i mean plane!! A lot of people in paphos do know me and yes i suppose i am a trusting person, unfortunately i was brought up with the attitude ...treat others as you would like to be treated....but this day n age we now have to be more aware of the sad horrible things that go on around us.

But on a happier note......our two daughters seemed to have a wicked day yesterday .....dont know who was the most hyper ...the eldest or the youngest ha ha ...roll on 2 weeks when i have them both back here!!!!!!!!! (give it 48 hours and they will be fighting ha ha)

a happy mum :D
