hi folks - you may have already come across this but i found it today and its really useful (and quite funny to those of us who drive here!)
But what surprised me was the fact that the alcohol limit for drink driving offences is lower here than in the U.K. Not that those who regularily drink and drive care two hoots about that , but it might be useful if you think a couple of pints is still ok?

Given the general Cypriot mentality towards driving I think it is going to be a very hard slog to change the driving habits of both the general public and the police.
I had to smile at the bit about police targeting drivers smoking in the car when an under 16 year old was present So it's OK to drive with a baby or child on your lap then. A mobile phone glued to your ear. 8 people in a 4/5 seat car or with totally bald tyres. All witnessed by me and in the presence. of police officers who must have also seen these offences.

A few weeks ago I was driving up the Polis Road, in the usual nose-to-tail mid-morning traffic. Coming down the hill was a Astynomia car, with a single police officer occupant. One hand on the wheel, the other with a mobile glued to his ear. You have to laugh!

On a slightly different tack, my son-in-law, Dan, passed an "Anti-Cancer Society" car driving along the highway the other day. Both occupants were smoking Lloyd
