Any business owners/accountants/book-keepers (or anyone else !!) out there have a version of the latest Cyprus VAT return with translation of what comprimises each of the boxes into English ? If so can you post it up or email to me ?

neil - an unofficial version would be fine, infact i've had a PM from a very helpful member who has helped.

rick - well so did i but to pay someone to complete boxes on a form .. id prefer to spend that elsewhere.

actually its funny you should say that, i was in the accountants the other day and he mentioned that there had been a problem with late fileing of vat.

to which my reply was, not my fault pal, you do it for me.
I feel i may need to investigate further and do it myself from now on.
you may have just prompted me.

I would advise anyone to do it themselves. It is the same format as the UK return and I have a copy of a translated form if anyone wants a copy.

I used to pay my accountant 250CYP for him to complete the return even though I provided him with a spreadsheet and evidence of the detail. Needless to say I had it translated rather quickly!!

I would like a copy of the translated form if you have one please. I always fill in the form myself as my accountant gave me a rough guide to each box, but I am always a bit worried that I am doing it wrong!

I thought I had this but can't find it now...

If in doubt (or MAD's comments are no longer current) pop into the VAT office and they will be happy to explain the form to you.

I haven't done it for a while but it used to be just like the UK VAT return but with an extra box...

The above is correct.
From May this year VAT will no longer accept VAT submissions in paper form. Those businesses registered for VAT must register for TAXISNET. I have registered but not made a submission yet, so have no idea if the online form is in English, however as TAXISNET has an English option, I live in hope.

VAT submissions and social security payments are not black arts as the accountants say they are. The accountants make very good money from doing returns you can do yourself.

Don't forget to pay the VAT due at the bank before you go to the office or they just send you home.

As for TAXISnet, kt is nothing to do with not submitting the last return. The first problem I found was that you must have your original VAT certificate to hand as you need the actual date the certificate was registered. This is only printed on your original certificate. You should have this certificate displayed on your work premises or risk a big fine!

Thanks Dave, I managed to register in the end - I was being stupid and not entering date correctly. Even completed the return online too... x
