You may remember 5 weeks ago I tore the ligaments and tendons in my left ankle. Today, at work, Phil has done the same thing to the same ankle  He is now heavily bandaged. :!:

Of course the pain is worse than mine was and his ankle is more swollen than mine was (did tell him that's because he has bigger ankles than I have to begin with  ). :there

Oh - he is off work too. Seem to remember that I still went to work, albeit on light duties. Must be because mine wasn't as bad as his

At this rate we will be easily spottable when we come to Paphos as we will each be limping.

Complete sympathy to Phil, I totally understand what he's going thru :( I tore ligaments and tendons in my knee when I joined up & that was 20 years ago now & its still sore in winter

There's a reason why its called Man-Flu, you know its because only men can survive it

You ladies still don't understand what its like to have man-flu  because any woman who's had man-flu has never survived to tell of the eperience, so please, until one of you live to tell the story, we'll have no more comments about it not being as bad as giving birth

Ladies don't get man-flu because we haven't got time ..... and if men had to give birth there would only be one child per family as they wouldn't do it again

Anyway the poor lamb is still in bed ......... resting ...

He is in the wars at the mo - last week he had to have his elbow stitched after a tussle during an arrest. So now he has bandages on his right elbow and left ankle.

Not to be outdone, Zoe dropped a netball post on her lower leg last week and has an enormous graze which she is hoping is going to be properly healed over before the holiday, otherwise her tan will be ruined by a light patch, which as you will all realise will be far worse than man-flu

Hi Sarah
Sorry :( to here about Phils ankle, but it is true what they say, you can't get anything by them and it will be worse than yours, but thinking about it you better nurse him :there so he can get on that plane.

Hope both of you feel better soon. They say things come in threes and so with your daughter as well perhaps that is the end of the bad luck now.

Not long now to your holidays so chins up and look forward to good times to come soon.

I went back to the doctor today as my ankle is still swollen and now my knee is hurting :!: She has told me I now have to go and have an x-ray  followed by physio.

Was supposed to have a fitness and bleep test at work on Thursday but the PTI told me today that he wouldn't let me do it, irrespective of what the doctor said, after he had watched me walk across the car park - and here's me thinking I was walking ok

I've not had an injury like this before and can't believe how long it is all taking to get back to normal :!:

Meanwhile, Phil is still hobbling around - we are a right pair at the moment and are the subject of much micky taking from the kids

Why are you giving Phil such a hard time.

He is clearly an Adonis figure, with all the atributes of a complete athlete. When the body is honed to such a high state of precision, any imbalance or accident can cause the well oiled funtioning to faulter. The pain by default will be much worse and may take longer to heal. Afterall would you rush your prize race horse back too early from an illness only to see it relapse and breakdown.

Leave him alone to recupperate in peace and quiet, get the top treatment and take the best Physio assistance.

Every police officer I have ever met is a finely honed piece of machinery with a mid of computer precision.

Wait a minute, what am I saying??

Give him a donut, cake, pie or other gratuitous carbohydrate, and he'll feel at home...

Tanny

Phil is in total agreement with you with the exception of the donut bit

Also, as I am a police officer too - I graciously accept that I am a finely honed piece of machinery ......

We understand your bit about racehorses too as Phil's father was a racehorse trainer until he passed away 2 years ago - you couldn't have picked a better analagy

sarah,

you and phil just need to take it easy...hark me 17 weeks down the line and still getting gyp from my tendon ligament injury to the ankle, as i said when you first hurt yourself ,a brake would heal quicker, they are painful but take a long time to heal, mine is slowly improving but still gets stiff sore and swollen! off tomorrow to put it up in the sun for 2 weeks!
you maybe both just need a good rest...not long now....you are nearly there!!

Kathryn - you are absolutely right but we can't just sit still can we? So I guess we are our own worst enemies

Phil went back to the doctor today and has been signed off for a further 12 days :!: To be fair to him this is the first 'sick' leave he has had in 20 years as a bobby so he's doing well.

I am sure you will have a fab time on your hols, look forward to seeing some piccies when you are back. They will gee me up for mine :!:

Have a safe flight ........

Sarah

OK - I'm eating humble pie now

Phil had an appointment with the force physio today who informed him that he has a cracked fibia (sp?) which had been missed by the hospital x-ray :o

Apparently this is quite commonly misdiagnosed due to the x-ray being done too low in the leg. Fortunately he doesn't have to have it plastered but he is in support bandages - otherwise known as Nora Batties :!: He can go to work and perform light duties i.e. is station bound so at least he doesn't get bored.

I can feel I'm going to have to provide lots of sympathy now, will have to look that up and see what I have to do  - at least until my apointment with the same physio on Thursday :!: Let's hope mine's ok :!:
