With effect from TODAY (1 December), I am resigning / standing down as Forum Moderator, a job I have done for 10 years.
I do not see the point or need in moderating the 6 members who actually post and the several hundred who don’t.
Over the past few years, forums have been overtaken by social Media (in some cases Anti-Social Media). The forum membership still runs to over 4 figures but 97% are now ‘takers’ rather than ‘givers / sharers’ and make no contribution.
I will still be a member of the forum and will ‘occasionally’ contribute but will no longer post ‘Municipality’ announcements; weather ‘health warnings’ Traffic problems / road closures; any other local news items or news items that might affect ex-pats……..you are on your own

I would like to express my thanks for all your moderation to date. I appreciate all the posts whilst not necessarily posting very often myself. Thank you.

I do appreciate all the help and encouragement you have given me over the last two and a half years. I also appreciate how you feel about the lack of response, we used to have very lively threads which ran sometimes for weeks but not anymore.
Once again thanks for the last ten years.

It is sad you will be standing down but i do understand , it must frustrating banging your head on the wall and nobody even noticing ! Wow unmoderated mouse ! That could be a scarey thing . Stoll i am glad you will still be there and i will try to stay interactive

People don't appreciate how much time is voluntarily given to monitor the various discussion groups in their different formats.

Even so, it is up to the members to take an active part by posting new topics and joining in the discussions - and at the same time be respectful of the views of others.

Well done that man!
