Peyia - Coral Bay ROAD CLOSURES We are hearing this afternoon that the much heralded ‘widening’ of the road from Peyia to Coral By will start this Monday, 14th Feb. This IS NOT just about widening the road but also digging it up and installing new sewage pipes, replacing ageing water pipes (with probably water being off) Connecting of electricity (with probable power outages) and upgrading other underground facilities such as CYTA as well as adding pavements where required and additional / new street lighting. The work will be carried out in phases / sections and will take up to 8 MONTHS to complete. The first ‘section’ will be from ‘The Brewery Bar’ junction down to Carmines Card shop junction and work is ‘EXPECTED’ to take up to 8 weeks. We asked if ‘traffic management’ systems ie traffic lights would be in operation and got the usual Cypriot ‘shrug’ reply What they did say was that there was planning for MAJOR / LONG diversions as required We will keep you updated, as and when we hear more |
