Oh My God!!

Had my letter yesterday confirming my eligibility for student finance and i nearly keeled over from the shock. I knew i was going to be expensive but actually seeing it written down in black and white really made me wonder if i was doing the right thing at my age.

I'm going to be in debt to the tune of approx £24.000 after 3 years. Very scary indeed. On the plus side, my old age will come in handy as i'll never have enough working years to pay it off in full or i could work part time and pay even less back. One disadvantage though, if i come back to Cyprus, as i intend, i'll get stung for much higher repayments every month or i'll have to pay back in full.

Should have stayed with NHS and had my course fees paid in full.

Better get buying those lottery tickets.

Hi Pam

I have taken into account Uni fees and Hall of residence for one year then renting a place for last 2 years. It does not equate to kirsten grant that is more. Our intention was always that kirsten should be burden free.

Luckily, i haven't got accomodation to pay for but it's certainly adds up without it.

GMTV's money man Martin Lewis advises students to take whatever is being offered, even if you don't need it, and put it in a high interest account. Or even if you spend it, it's the best interest rate you will find.

I hope not to spend it all, gain some interest and at least have a lump sum to start paying back at the end.

Putting money away for my kids already in case they want to go to Uni. Like Frank, i'd like to make it burden free for them but who knows who much it'll cost by then?
