To answer Tanny's question. I removed the post yesterday morning so that Admin could decide whether it should remain on the Day to Day thread or not. I am not adverse to anyone voicing their opinions, but the Terms and Conditions were flaunted, and it is part of the remit of moderator to act in such instances.
There are sites where people are encouraged to post emotively about racist and religious issues. This is not one of them. Any views should be expressed keeping in mind the membership, which in our case is accessed by minors. The Administration of PP ask members to respect other members and as the content of some of the posts clearly gave gratification to the posters as far as their opinions were concerned, they were offensive to other members. I deliberated about removing the topic because I do not disagree with the right to an opinion - that is why I am not living in Britain
- but I made the decision because the opinions were voiced without due consideration to others given that this is a forum about people living in, or having an affinity with, Pafos and Cyprus.
It is easy to get carried away when it is a subject that people feel strongly about. In fairness to those concerned, once Jan (Duchess) had pointed out that this was inappropriate the postings ceased.
Let's not do an autopsy on this. It happened. It's over. Let's move on.
