Ok guys

those that wish to paricipate in this thread please be reasonable in replies.I am mearly pointing out how uk is going pc and why we seem to roll over like a dog waiting for our tummies to be rubbed. It so happened that it was convicted prisoner that managed this....of the high order that got this officer moved.

Had it been IRA would it have same impact. Not sure where racist stuff came from.Any response to this please no picking on members or likewise as it is serious discusion.

There are no breach of rules kathryn this is some officer who has his lif up turned because some .....in home ofice don't have ba..s to stand up to convicted terr... It even happens with burglars ie claim human rights.Police do good job and catch criminals and once inside they start to spout human rights.

No one really worry's what we do as living or when we are asaulted badly only if we lose one in transit.WE HAVE NOT DON'T WORRY.but i do feel like at times forgotten person.

sorry just me

i understand how you feel you prison officers have a hard time... my uncle is the governer of liverpool prison! he was always trying to get me to work as a nurse for him, he once took me on a tour of wormwood scrubs, i was so freaked out it was unbelievable, couldnt do your job for all the tea in china!!!
prisoners get it easy i have to say all the slopping out got my goat.... as a nurse i clean up other peoples urine and faeces for a living, i dont complain it is my job and i do it for my patients comfort ( i love my job... even the bad bits!)....... i cant believe some prisioners think they had the right to compensation for slopping out! they get it too easy! this is my opinion only i hope no one is offended!

To answer Tanny's question. I removed the post yesterday morning so that Admin could decide whether it should remain on the Day to Day thread or not. I am not adverse to anyone voicing their opinions, but the Terms and Conditions were flaunted, and it is part of the remit of moderator to act in such instances.

There are sites where people are encouraged to post emotively about racist and religious issues. This is not one of them. Any views should be expressed keeping in mind the membership, which in our case is accessed by minors. The Administration of PP ask members to respect other members and as the content of some of the posts clearly gave gratification to the posters as far as their opinions were concerned, they were offensive to other members. I deliberated about removing the topic because I do not disagree with the right to an opinion - that is why I am not living in Britain  - but I made the decision because the opinions were voiced without due consideration to others given that this is a forum about people living in, or having an affinity with, Pafos and Cyprus.

It is easy to get carried away when it is a subject that people feel strongly about. In fairness to those concerned, once Jan (Duchess) had pointed out that this was inappropriate the postings ceased.

Let's not do an autopsy on this. It happened. It's over. Let's move on.

Now that weve re-estalished the thread purpose, and established the problem that clearly and openly exists in the UK, and one which is getting worse. The question is::

Has anyone seen/ experienced the same drive towards political correctness which flies in the face of common sense in Cyprus??

I love Cyprus and am not going to knock it. But I do see the funny side of using the words "common sense" and Cyprus in one sentence, especially when dealing with red tape.

It is an oxymoron. :P

Another great word Verity, oxymoron, I like words like that.

Was told at school that you should never discuss in public religion or politics, and I'm still sticking to that rule, well I let slip on the politics one sometimes when I get wound up.

Oh dear, I think there will be a lot of splinters in bottoms with all these fences.

Im not asking for anyone to "knock" the Island (goodness knows there are other sites do that). But to pass observation.

My post was to show pc at it's worse and some folk have discussed this on many sites as one of reasons why they are leaving.

Think this example has now gone past sell by date.
