Hi everyone,
Fell down the stairs this morning from top to bottom. Broke my wrist. It's my left wrist so that's not so bad but I tell you what it bloody hurts !
Got a pot on, hope It's still not on in 4 weeks when I go on holiday !

With all the accidents we are experiencing on this forum at the moment we could start another thread entitled "General Hospital" and have all the nurses looking after us!

How in earth did you manage that?? You see if you had been on the drink, you would have fallen easily and relaxed without a fracture.

Which bone have you broken (Is it a scafoid fracture) and did they say how long the plaster will need to be on.

Are you still able to work or is driving out?

Oh dear poor you Fractured wrists can be very painful so keep taking the keo, oops I meant paracetamol

You can always advertise for a "gardener wanted" cos you can't cut the grass for awhile.... I don't think I've seen a one handed gardener with a lawn mower.

Seriously Gary I do hope it heals quickly not much fun for you at the moment.

It really hurting. The schafoid bone has gone as well as the wrist !
It knacks to be honest.
Mark that is just about how it was. Only our stairs are a lot higher than that.
No white flag from me even if you do have the lu rgy on me !

Ah Gary we really do sympathise that must have been some fall thankful it was only your wrist injured. Good video Mark put up thou did make me laugh

The scaphoid bone is one of a number of small bones that makes up the wrist. Had to learn every bone in the body during nurse training, but again later when I did Aromatherapy for two years.... you never forget.

TIP'S FOR GARY

1. do not go in the rain
2 do not go swimming
3. do not have a shower
4 when in bath keep left hand out of water, then get wife to dry you
5. do not do the washing up
6.do not wash car
It's so easy when you know how Gary, just keep away from the water

OHHH poor mrs dp i hope its not your hand you have to wipe your butt with seriously bad luck mate but atleast you wont have to carry the cases will they let you fly because of swelling Alex

Just catching up with things tonight and found this thread

How silly are you, surely you only do something like this at the end of the bank holiday, not at the beginning.

Are you sure it is not an age thing now, you with you knocking on a bit. Maybe you should look for one of those stair lift contraptions to help you get up and down the stairs from now on.

Seriously mate, sorry to hear about the accident, hope the pain is not too bad now and that you are back on top form soon.

You can get those water repellant aerosols like you spray to re water proof your jacket only joking keep it dry and should be fine.Have a great time on hols.

Look on the bright side, I take it you are now not able to work for a while, just in time for the good weather. You may be the only one to go one holiday with a tan if you play your cards right.

I am back across to glorious Cyprus in 2 weeks time to take my first well deserved Mars Bar off Pete, unless he has managed to find another excuse why he shouldn't pay up.

Its clearly a case of Man wrist, along the lines of Man flu, Man depression, Man psychosis, and Man everything..

The main rule is we are allowed to grind out the situation as long as possible to get the maximum sympathy we can..

Afterall, all we ever hear is how difficult childbirth is, the sagas, tribulations etc.

Us men would get off to work, feel a wee cramp, drop it in the lunchbreak, and get back for the afternoon shift. But every now and then we need some Man Illness time, so please be nice to him!!

Have to say I agree about the giving birth comments, it can't be that bad, after all you girlies have had millions of years to perfect it, it's not our fault if you can't solve the pain issue.

As for us men, some of us are tougher than others', obviously being a good old geordie boy I am from the toughest group of all, I even remeber jogging back to work after my vasectomy as I had a busy afternoon on.

I do however, think we should leave off Gary in his hour of need, after not only are his keyboard skills aftected but it seriously have hampered his love life
