Gary

It reminds me of an old joke.

A teacher is talking to her class about an exam they would be sitting the next day. She explains there will be no excuses acceptable to get the student out of taking the exam, not illness, not death in the family not even the death of a family pet.

One lad, thinking he is the class joker, puts his hand up and asks the teacher what she would say if he turned up and explained he couldn't do the exam due to sexual exhaustion? Without having to think about it she responded,"he would have to use his other hand to write the answers down".

Now do you understand what I was saying?

Regards.

John

Hi DP here is some practical help just for a change re cast protectors.
You can buy them on line or maybe Boots will have them in stock. They cost about £15 for a long arm protector and this company will post to you for £2.50p, but you maybe able to find somewhere nearer to you but try: http://www.wdavidson.com

Also in a few weeks you maybe able to switch to a wrist brace but this will be the hospital's decision, no harm in asking thou when you next see them if this is possible. If they agree it will be provided by them. The best bit about the braces is they can be removed for showering etc and you can purchase an extra one from the company above they cost about £10. Hope this helps.

Jan :) :)

Jan,
Thanks very much for that info I'll look into it.
Mark, you really are mental ! No white flag from me....... yet !
Verity's post reminded me of how tough I really am. Let me tell you, I've broken this wrist three times before. And my arm. And my big toe. I've dislocated both knees. I've severed tendons in my right hand.
I've had the snip and I've changed religion, so to speak ( with the world record for stitches to the foreskin !!!!!)
I've suffered a Hiatus hernia and I read somewhere that one of the most painful things a man can endure is Kidney Stones........... Yes I've had them and Yes it made me cry.
So be under no illusions, I'm tough !
Gary

I broke my big toe. I kicked Phil (accidentally) when I had had a glass of something alcoholic. I didn't know I had done it until the middle of the night when the numbing effect of the alcohol wore off.

It hurt a bit, as I recall.

But not quite as much as childbirth. And I am not rising to the comments about that. I should imagine passing a kidney stone is something akin to pushing a 7lb human out of a small orifice. I am still not convinced that flesh is meant to be so over-stretched.

Ok Gary. You are the man. Don't know if that is a compliment or not - coming from a woman.

Gary you should change your name to 'Bionic Man'!

Or maybe not - he had lots of metal implants didn't he?

Now - are you going to tell us you are too young to remember the Bionic Man?!

Talking of kidney stones......

Whilst on holiday with my second husband (just call me Elizabeth Taylor!) in Crete in 1997, OH started to have stomach pains on our last night, shortly after eating out at around 10.00pm. The pains came on quite sudden and strong, and I was putting daughter to bed whilst he was in the loo, moaning and groaning.

"Must be the rabbit", he kept shouting. "Told you not to have that", replies me.

After about an hour he was obviously in more and more pain and eventually said he thought he needed a doctor. "What? Are you serious? You can't be that ill, we have to fly home tomorrow!" I shrieked.

But a doctor was duly summoned, and arrived complete with mobile angoigram saying that his last patient had had a heart attack! In broken English he assured us that OH wasn't about to have a coronary but that he should go to hospital pronto. He asked me if I would be going and my relpy was, "No I have a young child to take care of".

So off he goes in the doctor's van, and I am left to pack!

Next morning we made our way to the airport not knowing if OH was going to be allowed to travel, but he was, and was waiting for us at the airport. We got front seats normally reserved for the sick, lame and lazy, and instuctions to get him to hospital asap atfter landing.

He was very impressed with the wealthy Greeks who were around in the hospital, but I dread to think what they thought of him in t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops!

He was in hospital here for 3 days to pass kidney stones and he said it was extremely painful.

And, as childbirth has already been mentioned on this thread.........

No rude comments please................

My daughter weighed 9lbs 12oz at birth.

I only had gas and air, and NO rips or stitches!!

That's yoga for you :!: :smilielol  :smilielol

Yoga AND genetics, Pam. Some people's skin is more elastic than others.

Big respect though. In my job I see things from an up close and personal viewpoint, and I know that a woman's bits stretch far more when having a baby than a man's bits do when passing a kidney stone, taking anatomical issues into consideration.

What we need on here is a woman who has given birth and experienced passing kidney stones. Then we could have a true pain comparison. :manic

Either way, it is bloomin' painful so I think we are going to have to settle for that.

Verity :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Gary, if you practise yoga you,

a) improve your posture and balance, and
b) become more supple and flexible - so...

1) you would not have fallen down the stairs in the first place, but if you had, then
2) you would not have broken anything! :celeb2  :celeb2  :celeb2

Right, I am off for some retail therapy, need a new tankini for my holiday 2 weeks on Wednesday! 8)

Kidney stones Gary....no problem, you cried......wimp, very very very very painfull....yes, tears.....no, pi**&ng through the eye of a needle springs to mind, but the relief when it passed was immense. A bit like undoing a knot in it, if that is not being a bit too graphic. Makes me cross my legs now thinking about it, and that was about 15 years ago.

Tanny, filling with no anasthetic, no problem, my last 2 fillings at the dentist have been without an anasthetic, though I love it when the dentest says to you "if you start to feel anything, just raise your hand", I raised my hand about 4 times, he said, "just a bit more" by this time I'm trying to slide of the chair to get away from the bleeding drill....and they only charge £46.20 for the privelage

With plenty of practice this aiming feat can be achieved, however its what sprinkles the seat that gets you in trouble!!

My dentist told me "If you feel pain, just wriggle your toes", I replied with. "Id rather you were concentration on my mouth"

Brian,Yes I have to admit I did cry with the Kidney Stones, the saying "Rolling around in agony" comes to mind.Maybe yours were just little uns.

Been to the hospital today. Got the cast off. There's a fracture that is healing and a broken bone that they think needs pinning.
They've put a new cast on and I have to go back tomorrow for confirmation.
Bionic Man indeed !
They've told me not to drive as well !

Dunno. They have said that they think the crack or space is too wide to heal and so needs surgery.
Lord knows how long I'm gonna have a cast on !
