Is it now policy that if you have a "Beware of the Dog" sign on the entrance to your property, that the Electricity board don't read the meter but leave an "I called and you were out" card with a number to call? Happened to us the last coupla times, but I rang up and gave the details to the machine and all worked ok.

Thanks

Alan

Thanks for that info. We had this last month and couldn't understand why as we knew the dog and us were out all the day in question.

Jim.

I believe you can send EAC your meter readings once a month. Can't remember where I read it but maybe worth checking.

EAC couldn't even be bothered to read our meter !
Just received an estimated account, based on last year's usage.

If they don't have access because of a dog, they leave a calling card in your postbox with a number to ring to give meter reading.

Have a good New Year.

Thanks Alan. I'd prefer just to read it myself to be honest and email them the reading. Saves me getting dogs in etc. etc. Will call them next week and check.

We keep our side gate locked now, because meter readers are well trained in opening gates but have no mental capacity for closing them after, so we decided whether they like it or not they get the reading phoned in!
As far as I am aware the eac are still installing 20 or 30 year old type meters, one day they will start installing remote read meters, They can then send a man to the local sub station and he can read ALL the meters on that trans former, or even the better meters and read them all from anywhere on the grid. One day!
Maybe it is trades union problem.
