Paphos People

Last night we followed a small car (white swift Reg starting MAY) up the main road to Tsada. We were only doing about 40mph and had maybe 40 meters between us. Just after the Vikla village turnoff the wee car hit a stray hunting dog which was fired across the barrier into the rough! Ok an accident.

They stopped and we stopped about 15 meters behind. Immediately jumped out and hunted for the injured dog (1900 so was very dark), we noted the occupants of the other car got out also. But instead of helping look or having any concern the 3 locals, ( 2 men! and a lady!) started inspecting the damage to their car. Sadly we couldn't find the dog as the cliff is very steep there and too dangerous, but by the time we had finished the girl had started to become hysterical about a scratch to her beloved car!!

IT TOOK ME A LOT OF RESTRAINT TO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THEM BUT SIMPLY SHOWS THE GULF IN ATTITUDE TO ANIMAL WELFARE.

Typical! How do these people live with themselves I sometimes wonder.
I hope the dog's end was swift and not slow/painful.
